Two brothers, each with two teenage football-playing sons, all played together in the same team on Saturday to make it a family-of-six occasion.
Anglesey-based CPD Cefni are now wondering if they have set some sort of record.
The North Wales Coast League West Division One side had a very strong contingent of Joneses in the weekend Welsh Cup clash at St Asaph City.
Cefni’s line-up included:
Father – Hugh Alan Jones – age 37
Sons – Aaron Jones – age 16, Dion Jones – age 17
Father – Graham Jones – age 40
Sons – Kyle Jones – age 16, Ashley Jones – age 18
Brothers Graham and Hugh were the elder statement of the sextet, with Ashley, Dion, Aaron and Kyle repesenting youth.
It was recent reported that Central Wales League side Forden United have six sets of brothers in their squad ahead of the 2024-25 season.
And back in the early 2010s, Holyhead-based Morawelon had five Murphy brothers in the same side – Mike, Sean, Nick, Jordie and Dale.
However, what happened with Cefni on Saturday could have been unique – unless anyone can tell us different?
