Talented players young and experienced were rewarded for a season’s endeavours when CPD Y Rhyl 1879 women held their recent annual presentations.
The 2023-24 campaign went well for the Lilywhites, who finished fourth in the Tier 2 Genero Adran North.
Undoubtedly the result of the season was a 2-1 home win over high-flyers Connah’s Quay Nomads, but there were numerous other good performances.
Rhyl finished 2023-24 in great style with victories over Nomads, NFA, to clinch fourth place, and ended with a 0-0 draw against CPDM Bangor.
These were the awards handed out on the night;
Ever-reliable with that deadly left-foot from set pieces or in open play, Laura came up with her usual quota of goals, many of them spectacular.
Her experience always gives Rhyl a major presence in attack.
This 18-year-old forward came on in leaps and bounds during 2023-24.
Especially shone towards the end of the season with five league goals in six games, including doubles versus Llanfair United and NFA.
Was an ever-present in Rhyl’s league campaign and what a superb effort she put in at the back across the season.
As well as being manager, Cassie also contributed a full season as a player, standing out in many matches, including the epic 2-1 victory over Connah’s Quay.
Rhyl are blessed in that they possess two of the best goalkeepers in the league – Loz Jones and Bethan Thomas.
Loz shares the keeping duties with Bethan for the most part, featuring in seven league games and producing her usual range of great saves.
Rejoined Rhyl 1879 for 2023-24 and finished top-scorer with a magnificent 16 goals in 19 outings.
She would no doubt have scored more but for injury problems near the end of the campaign.
Netted back-to-back hat-tricks against Trearddur Bay and Llanfair United, plus a Welsh Cup double against Llangefni.
Did a tremendous job in a lone forward role.
