Flint Town United’s young coach Elliott Hale is immensely proud of his team reaching Welsh football Tier 2 standard within just two seasons of their formation.
The Silkwomen were confirmed yesterday as new members of the Genero Adran North League, replacing Airbus UK Broughton.
Flint were crowned champions of the North Wales Women’s League East Division last season with a perfect record of 12 straight wins.
Now they will be up against the likes of Llandudno, Connah’s Quay Nomads and CPDM Y Felinheli in Tier 2 this season.
Head coach Hale is delighted with the progress of his young squad.
He said: “We set out our goals for the season and worked hard in training to achieve our goals. It wasn’t easy, it really wasn’t and the girls will tell you that we were very much tested throughout games in spells, but we just had that extra gear to get in to, to push on and get something more in the game.
“With it only being our second season as a team, we took the challenge in our stride and did what everyone thought would never happen while still finding our feet not only within our squad but in the leagues with tough opponents.
“Going into tier 2, we look to approach it the same, but to set the bar higher in terms of development and improving what is around us as a team and compete with teams in the league. I’m sure we’ll hold our own and are good enough to be there and pick up points as we go along.
“The girls have been incredible to coach and to do it with such a special group makes it so much better and memories to last and no one can take that from them. We over achieved our set goals and learnt from the mistakes.”
The FAW National Leagues Board have confirmed the composition of the Genero Adran Leagues for the 2024/25 season.
