Chirk AAA have appointed a new manager to lead their quest to return to Tier 2 season.

Lawrence Wilson will be the man at the helm for the Colliers in Ardal North in 2024-25.

He replaces Gary Jones, who stepped down at the end of the current first-team campaign.

Chirk have been relegated from the Cymru North this term after two seasons in the second-tier.
Wilson is a UEFA B Licence coach who is a  current UEFA A candidate.

He is described by his new club as a young, enthusiastic coach who has previous managerial experience at Wem Town, Llanfair United and Llanidloes Town. He has also managed both TNS and Wem Town ladies teams.

Lawrence Wilson

Club secretary Nigel Roberts said: “Lawrence is a focused individual with some forward-thinking coaching methods which we feel make him a perfect fit for our club. We look forward to working with him in an attempt to bounce straight back to Cymru North.

“Lawrence will be in attendance when Chirk’s talented Reserve team take on TNS in their League Cup Semi Final on Tuesday evening.”

The club has also announced they will be running an under 17 side in the newly formed NEWFA U17 league.

Mr Roberts added: “This is a monumental step for the club as we look to give the younger players of Chirk a pathway into senior football.

“Watch this space for further details over the next few weeks.”

So Chirk will go into the 2024/2025 season with 3 teams, First Team in Tier 3 Ardal North, Reserves in NEWFA Reserve League and U17’s in the NEWFA U17 League.
