PREMIER DIVISION

Menai Bridge Tigers 4 Glantraeth 1

Callum Graves notched a hat-trick and inspirational skipper Sion Hogan provided three goal assists as Menai Bridge strengthened their grip on second spot with a Wednesday night whipping of Glantraeth.

Tomos Hughes gave the visitors a seventh-minute lead they held right up to half time, but the second period saw Tigers show their teeth.

Hogan set up Darren Gowans for the equaliser on 51 minutes and the captain was involved again as Graves edged the hosts in front after 64.

Graves added further net-finders on 76 and 81 to make it 23 goals in all competitions this season, Hogan and Gowans with the assists.

SATURDAY, MARCH 23

PREMIER DIVISION

CPD Aberffraw 0 Talysarn Celts 5

The prolific Luke Baum edged up to 20 goals for the season with a double in another emphatic win for Talysarn.

Garem Jones added a brace and Sion Pollard was also on the mark for the dominant Celts.

Gwalchmai 2 Glantraeth 2

Anglesey’s two G-Forces proved inseparable at Maes Meurig.

Glantraeth got off to a flyer, two goals inside the first 14 minutes from Shaun Monument and Tomos Hughes giving them early command.

However, two of island football’s very best marksmen – Marc Evans and Kaine Bentley – responded on 28 and 56 minutes respectively to earn Gwalch a point.

CPD Llannerchymedd 4 CPD Pentraeth 3

A long run of more than four months and eight games without a win ended for Llannerchymedd at the expense of the side they previously last beat – Pentraeth.

Medd had triumphed 4-2 at Bryniau in November and completed the double at Treborth, Dion Owen, Sam Roberts (2) and Cai Miller with the home goals.

Kian Abbott, Cai Evans Hughes and Matthew Parry replied for Pentraeth.

Llan had Callum Roberts red-carded on 89 minutes, but they held on for a welcome win which nudged them further clear of the bottom two,

CPD Mynydd Llandegai 5 CPD Nefyn United 1

Big result this for Mynydd Llandegai over a Nefyn side which was right up among the leaders not so long ago.

Iwan ‘Pij’ Morris, Steven Tindall (penalty), Liam Willighan, Alwyn Roberts and a Iwan Moore own goal brought up the home tally, sub Ellis Picot with a reply for the Penwaig.

CPD Penrhyndeudraeth 1 Cemaes Bay 3

Impressive stuff from Cemaes, who made it four straight wins and five matches without defeat.

Matty Roberts, Keenan Downey and Dafydd Rowlands bagged the all-important goals for the islanders, Tom Hughes responding for Penrhyn, who had Cai Henshaw sent off for a second yellow a minute from time.

DIVISION ONE

CPD Gaerwen 6 Holyhead Town 2

Six of the best from Gaerwen, for whom Calum Thomas and Nathan Moore scored two each, the latter netting a pair of penalties, while Huw Evans and Tom Cai Rees Jones also featured on the scoresheet.

Craig Moore pocketed two consolations in the second half for Holyhead.

A run of six straight victories came to an end for Rovers at Tyddyn Paun.

Anthony Williams handed Llangoed a 12th minute lead with a cracking finish from a Charlie McKenna assist.

Leon Buckland brought Bethesda back on terms after 34, but a Kieran Freeman-Jones own goal in first half added time restored the home advantage.

And that was the end of the scoring, as the Puffins ended a sequence of three losses with a great result.

Man of the match for Llangoed was Anthony Williams.

Man of the match for Bethesda Rovers was Louie Turner.

Llanystumdwy 3 Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs 1

Guto Gwenallt, Owen Pritchard and Guto Roberts put Llanystumdwy 3-0 up before the hour.

Oliver Dukes-Morgan nabbed an 88th minute consolation for the Quarrymen.

CPD Mountain Rangers 3 CPD Cefni 7

Deadly Dion Jones netted four times for Cefni to boost his goals total for 2023-24 up to 17 in all competitions.

Dylan Griffith, Gruff Huws and Arwyn Williams were also on target for the impressive Anglesey visitors.

Cefni led 3-0 at half time, but a 17-minute hat-trick in the second half from the prolific Alan Mark Owen, one a penalty, moved him up to 12 goals in 13 league games and brought the score back to 3-3.

A somewhat shellshocked Cefni now had to win the match again and they didn’t disappoint. Griffith (66 min) and a 19-minute Dion Jones treble (73, 79 and 90+2) settling a thrillng encounter.

FRIDAY, MARCH 22

Menai Bridge Tigers 0
Trearddur Bay 3 (Thomas 27 & 29, Reynolds 35)

The battle of the top two teams in the Premier went very much the way of Trearddur Bay at Treborth Playing Fields last Friday night.

Two first-half goals from leading marksman Asa Thomas, followed by a third from Matt Reynolds established an interval domination the Beach Boys were never to let slip.

Nick Dumbarton’s side are unbeaten all season in 16 matches and since their formation in 2022 under their new name have gone 42 league outings without defeat.

Bay made the breakthrough on 27 minutes when Jay Gibbs provided the assist and Thomas converted for his 701st career goal.

Two minutes later, Coby Doutch set up Thomas for a quick second.

And Trearddur were in total control after Gibbs was again the provider for Reynolds to find the back of the net.
