Clash of the Titans: Trearddur Bay win big island derby and extend lead at peak

Asa Thomas (dark blue) was on target twice for Trearddur Bay in tonight’s victory

NORTH WALES COAST WEST PREMIER DIVISION

Menai Bridge Tigers 0
Trearddur Bay 3 (Thomas 27 & 29, Reynolds 35)

The battle of the top two teams in the Premier went very much the way of Trearddur Bay at Treborth Playing Fields tonight.

Two first-half goals from leading marksman Asa Thomas, followed by a third from Matt Reynolds, established an interval domination the Beach Boys were never to let slip.

Tonight’s tussle was expected to present Trearddur with their toughest league test of the campaign so far, but once more they were too good for the opposition.

This result edged Bay four points clear of the Tigers with four games in hand.

Nick Dumbarton’s side are unbeaten all season in 16 matches and since formation in 2022 under their new name have gone 42 league outings without defeat.

Bay made the breakthrough on 27 minutes when Jay Gibbs provided the assist and Thomas converted for his 701st career goal.

Two minutes later, Coby Doutch set up Thomas for a quick second and his 45th goal of 2023-24.

And Trearddur were in total control after Gibbs was again the supplier for Matt Reynolds to find the back of the net.

That was the end of the scoring so Bay keep marching on.
