The number 40 had special significance for terrific Trearddur Bay on Saturday.
The Anglesey club stretched their unbeaten run since forming under their current name last season to 40 league matches – 37 wins and 3 draws.
And their amazing striker, Asa Thomas, reached 40 goals for the 2023-24 campaign, putting him just three away from a career mark of 700.
Thomas netted two as Bay twice came from behind to triumph 5-2 at Nefyn, themselves flying high in fourth spot.
Trearddur are now top of the Premier Division by a point from Menai Bridge Tigers in second with four games in hand.
The first half was tight with Nefyn taking the lead via an incredible goal from distance by Dan Roberts on eight minutes.
Thomas levelled things up later on in the half, with the sides going in at the break at 1-1.
Trearddur coach Jonathan Jones was red-carded during the interval.
The Penwaig once again edged in front on the 61st minute after a nice finish from Rhys Williams, only for the deadly Thomas to strike again direct from his corner to make it 2-2 with 65 on the clock.
Bay now upped a gear and Casey Gregg made it 3-2 with a beautifully taken goal down the right hand side.
Morgan Rowlands then took over free kick duties from Thomas in the 85th minute and finished with a magical left footed shot to beat the keeper from a dead ball. That was Bay’s 200th league goal in their 40th match.
Matty Reynolds capped it off in the 87th minute with a nicely-slotted finish to make the final score 5-2.
