North Wales football’s most prolific all-time goalscorer has announced he is leaving Trearddur Bay and looks set to sign for Gwalchmai.
Asa Thomas, 33, has netted 722 senior goals in all competitions across seven clubs dating back to his debut season of 2007-08.
The Holyhead man is Trearddur Bay’s record marksman with 338 club goals and began a third successive season with the Beach Boys in the summer as they embarked on a first campaign as a tier 3 outfit under their present name.
He bagged five goals in his first three outings of 2024-25, but has not scored since August 3, having found game time restricted in recent weeks, with Bay’s change of management meaning numerous new faces joining the Anglesey club.
Thomas told Grassroots North Wales it is time for a new challenge.
If he joins tier 4 Gwalchmai, the North Wales Coast West Premier Division side will become his eighth Ynys Môn club. He has only ever represented teams from the island.
“I’m gutted to be leaving a club I love so much, but a lack of game time has left me frustrated and a new challenge awaits,” he said. “My time playing isn’t done yet.”
