They stormed into the FAW Under-16 Girls Welsh Cup Final on Sunday with a magnificent 7-2 win over distinguished South Wales opponents Talycopa.
This season they have won every one of their 13 matches across all competitions entered, scoring 89 goals and conceding just 12.
With seven wins out of seven they currently sit second in the North Wales Girls League Premier Division and have a great chance of finishing champions. They are also into the final of the NWCFA Under-15 Girls Cup.
So who are these teenage marvels called Kinmel Bay Under-15 Girls?
They are the latest sensations to emerge from a multi award-winning club which rivals anyone in North Wales for producing young, talented female players over the past 22 years.
Becca Gregson, who plays for Kinmel Bay women’s team and has two daughters, Scarlett and Eden, representing the under-16’s and under-11’s respectively, tells us more.
She began with LEXI WALSH, scorer of a stunning 52 goals in 13 appearances this season, including six versus Talycopa in Sunday’s semi-final at Aberystwyth.
“Lexi Walsh joined this season and has been absolutely unstoppable with her goals. She works her socks off on the pitch and is a very unselfish player,” said Becca, who also takes top-class photographs at club games, male and female.
ABBIE TONKS
Has been with the club since she was 6, as have many of the team, which shows in how they play their football.
ELLA-MAISY BUCKNALL
Usually our solid right-back who played a blinder at right wing on Sunday, winning the ball back and assisting Lexi with her 6th goal of the game.
MOLLY WILLIAMS
Our midfield maestro and resident play-maker. An absolute workhorse in the midfield.
BAYLEIGH AARON
Stepped up into left back in the second half of the semi-final, where she won the ball from a long range goal kick and then sprinted up the left wing to make a cross into the box where Lexi was waiting but was denied by their goalkeeper. Has scored 19 goals this season.
LEXIE McEVOY (captain)
Our captain fantastic, Lexie is very good at reading where the ball will go and intercepting the ball and going on a run towards goal. Has also represented Kinmel Bay’s women’s team.
SCARLETT GREGSON
Normally a strong left back and uses her body well to shield the ball, but had a stint in midfield for the second half on Sunday, where she made some good challenges and even had a shot at goal but was blocked by Talycopa defence.
HANNAH TOPHAM
Our keeper commits herself to the ball. Is vocal with her defence, telling them what she wants/needs from them.
GRACIE SUTTON
Centre back, does not let anything get past her and has a superb right foot.
EVIE PRIOR
Been at Kinmel Bay since she was a baby, part of the club! Evie is a versatile player that can play most positions on the pitch. She had a shot on Sunday that shook the post!
TILLY CAREY
A regular in the under-15s Welsh Cup run who has also played for the women’s team three times this season.
