NORTH WALES COAST WEST LEAGUE REPORTS – FEBRUARY 17

Premier Division

Llanrug United 9 Nefyn United 4

An astonishing scoreline at Eithin Duon as Llanrug whipped recent division leaders Nefyn by nne goals to four.

Leading the way was the remarkable Jamie McDaid, who scored four times to boost his season’s total to 32 in all competitions and he is now leading Premier Division marksman on 25.

Jonathan Sadler (2), Owain Jones, Kevin Lloyd and Sam Griffiths provided the rest of the Llanrug total, Steve Jones (2), Rhys Williams and Osian Jones with the Penwaig replies.

In a quite bizarre game in many ways, Nefyn led 4-2 in the first half, but United were level by the interval, then netted five unanswered goals in the second period.

Mynydd Llandegai 1 Menai Bridge Tigers 3

The Tigers roared into second spot with a fourth straight league victory – and a third in a row on their travels.

Callum Graves, Dean Redmond and Kelvin Frazer put the Anglesey side three-up before Steven Tindall pulled one back for the hosts.

Trearddur Bay 3 Penrhyndeudraeth 0

Asa Thomas made it 10 goals in five matches and 36 in total for the club this season with another double in Trearddur’s weekend win over Penrhyndeudraeth.

Bay remain undefeated with 11 wins and a draw and sit third in the Premier standings, just two points behind leaders Gwalchmai and one in arrears of second-place Menai Bridge Tigers with games in hand on both.

Thomas netted on 50 and 68 minutes after Matt Reynolds had edged the hosts in front after 34.

Division One

Blaenau Ffestiniog 1 Caergybi 4

Louis Chapman struck twice in an impressive away display from Caergybi.

Mike Edwards, who also provided an assist, and Jerome Sillence added further goals for the visitors, Joe Dukes-Morgan replying.

CPD Boded 4 Cefni 1

Boded stretched their unbeaten league run to 12 matches with a home success over Cefni.

A first-minute own goal from Jordan Taylor got the hosts off to a bad start, but Chris Jones equalised on 22 and Cian Owen edged Boded in front after 36.

Early in the second half, Eric Leach made it 3-1 and new signing Jordan Edney added a fourth midway through the half.

Llanystumdwy 9 Gaerwen 4

How rare could it possibly be that two matches in the same league on the same day ended 9-4?

That was the scoreline in the Premier as Llanrug saw off Nefyn, and it was the same in Llanystumdwy’s favour against Gaerwen, who cannot help getting involved in exciting encounters.

Owen Pritchard, Guto Jones and Guto Griffiths all scored two apiece for the hosts, Darren Parry, Iolo Jones and Tomos Williams adding singles.

Brooklyn Jones, Calum Thomas, Keiran Williams and Robert Boyes replied for the visitors.
