Championship Division

Llay Welfare Vets 9 White Bear Vets 0

Michael Pritchard was a four-goal star as Llay Welfare continued their relentless charge towards the Championship Division title.

In terrible weather conditions, Jonny Taylor’s side rattled up nine without reply over visitors White Bear at The Ring.

Hugh Jones broke the deadlock on four minutes before Michael Pritchard rattled up a hat-trick with goals on 8, 16 and 28.

Darren Pritchard made it 5-0 before the break.

In the 56th minute, Michael Pritchard struck again for his fourth and the Welly’s sixth.

Mark Williams added another before former Wales international, Wrexham defender and current Colwyn Bay manager Steve Evans got in on thre act.

Evans converted a penalty on 61 minutes before adding his second after 79.

A more than happy Llay manager Taylor said after the game: “Great performance in horrendous conditions with the wind and rain. Mikey Pritchard was MoM, but everyone was quality today. Onto Saturday versus Deeside next.”

FC Queen’s Park Vets 10 Brickfield Rangers Vets 0

NINE goals from Alan Huxley (pictured above) was the main feature of this double-figure rout dished out by the Park.

The 45-year-old goal machine bagged a triple hat-trick in one of the most ruthless striking displays seen in North Wales football for many a day.

Huxley netted every Park goal except the first one – scored by Tony Jones on six minutes.

Remarkably, this was not Huxley’s best goal-scoring performance in a game. He netted 10 times for Lex XI this time last year in an 18-1 demolition of Johnstown.

NEWFA VETERANS CUP

Hawarden Rangers Vets 3 Ruthin Town Vets 2

Matthew Phillips’ 96th minute winner put Hawarden through to the next round.

Phillips opened the scoring on nine minutes before Rangers’ record marksman Alan Dawson was shown a red card after 28.

The numbers were evened up a minute later when Warren Aykroyd-Duckett saw red for Ruthin.

Three minutes into the second half, former Ruthin Town first team manager Chris Williams made it 1-1 from the penalty spot.

On the hour, Hawarden were awarded a penalty which Stephen Hopkins put away.

Emyr Jones levelled it up at 2-2 on 80 minutes and penalties were on the cards before Phillips won it.

Mynydd Isa Veterans 4 Rhydymwyn Vets 2

Chris Parry, Michael Birch, Michael Adamson and Jon Hutchinson delivered the goals that mattered in this Mynydd Isa triumph.

Andy Booker replied with a double for Rhydymwyn, who led in the early stages and pulled it back to 2-2 just past the hour before Isa went on to take the honours.
