Connah’s Quay will look to return to winning ways this Saturday when they host Holt and Farndon Vets in the North East Wales League Veterans Premier Division.

After winning their opening two league games, the Quay came unstuck last time out in a 3-0 loss at CPD Caerwys Vets on October 16.

The Deesiders were back in action last weekend in a friendly at Chester Nomads.

Despite leading 3-0, the Welsh side were unable to hold on for the win, conceding a late own goal to ensure the hosts got a draw.

The first two Quay goals came via the left, both assisted by player of the match Mike Salusbury.

For the opener, Salusbury played the ball round the last defender and found Leon Bowen, who turned and fired into the top corner.

Next to ripple the net was Liam Hett, who drilled into the bottom corner from the edge of the box after Salusbury beat the final defender before feeding the ball into the scorer’s path.

Alec Sumner set up Bowen for the third. It was top-scorer Bowen’s 90th goal for the team in just his 44th appearance.

Nomads’ current overall record since forming is: Played 83 Won 54 Drawn 8 Lost 21 Goals Scored 438 Goals Conceded 165.
