Goals from Jake Cooke and Morgan Murray were enough to clinch three points for Holywell in the Boxing Day derby at neutral Deeside Stadium.
Buckley created the first danger, a Callum Humphries header cleared off the goal-line by Cooke.
Holywell edged ahead on 11 minutes when Danny Andrews played the ball into Cooke, who turned and fired past keeper Ryan Goldston.
Buckley applied some good pressure in response and deservedly levelled on 32 minutes, the ball coming back off the bar following a corner and Josh Allen putting away the rebound.
Early in the second half a Cooke effort struck the crossbar and Murray blasted the second chance over.
Andrews also hit the goal frame from a tight angle before the Wellmen took the lead on the hour.
Cooke delivered a great ball to the far post and Murray was there to lash home.
Shaun Pearson saved well from Bucks’ Adam Smith, but late attempts from the hosts to equalise came to nothing.
Gresford did themselves and second and third-place clubs Flint and Holywell a favour by claiming an unexpected point at the home of the leaders.
It was a frustrating afternoon for the Wingmakers, who struck the post twice through James Davies and Jordan Evans.
Gresford defended very well and could have snatched it at the death.
Sam Spridgeon put the ball into the box in the fifth minute of added time, but Toby Gallagher-Keenan’s shot grazed past the post
Iwan Matthews grabbed a hat-trick, which included two penalties, and Jamie Hyne was also on the mark as Guilsfield comfortably saw off basement side Chirk.
Rhys Hesden struck twice for Caersws, who were good value for the spoils at Victoria Park,
sub Craig Harris adding a late third for the Bluebirds.
Jamie Breese replied for the Daffs on 68 minutes when the hosts were two-down.
Ruthless Flint brought an abrupt end to Llandudno’s good run as they whipped the Seasiders 5-1 at the OPS Wind Arena.
Eliiott Reeves and Sol Forde netted for the Silkmen in the first half.
After the break. Josh Jones, Jean-Louis Akpa-Akpro and Luis Lacey also found the net for Lee Fowler’s men.
Rowan Davies responded on 56 minutes for Tudno, who had Harvey Bennett red-carded after 78.
