Netball makes a huge impact at 2023 Gwynedd Sports Awards

Netball held court at this year’s Byw’n Iach Gwynedd Sports Awards.
The ever-growing sport won a host of accolades at the ceremony in Galeri Caernarfon, with international ace Beca Parry one of the stars of the evening after landing the Young Female Athlete of the Year prize.
Another highlight was Beca’s long-standing mentor Llinos Dobbins winning Coach of the Year for her work with junior netball.
Beca’s achievements over this year have been vast, including being selected for Wales’ Under-19 squad, North West Wales Under-18’s Schools, North West Wales Academy and Worcester University-based Severn Stars Nova Academy.
She also was a part of the Cheshire Panthers squad and plays her regular club netball for Arfon Ladies in the Gwynedd and Anglesey League.
And what’s extra special is Beca has achieved all this after recovering from a serious ACL injury.

Coach Llinos was full of praise for Beca, who hails from Llanrug, near Caernarfon, saying: “I’ve coached Beca since she started playing netball in year 7 and she has been a star since the beginning.
“She got in the Under-14 North West Schools squad when she was in year 7, which is very rare. She’s so talented. Not only is she an amazing talent, but her sportsmanship and positive attitude and lovely nature is a credit to her and her family. She’s an absolute joy.”
Llinos added: “Arfon Ladies were runners up in Team of the Year, Fflamau were runners up in Junior Team of the Year and Thundercats were runners up in Club of the Year. Massive representation of netball, which was brilliant.”
