We picked 15 female players on the North Wales football scene to watch at the start of the season.
Perhaps many were predictable, obvious choices, but their progress makes for good reading.
One of the signings of the summer, Catrin ended a spell playing in England linked to her studies by returning to Felinheli.
The club was known as CPDM Bethel when she first burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old after which she made a huge impact for Ynys Môn in the 2019 Inter-Games Football Tournament, where Anglesey’s women won a silver medal.
Catrin is playing really well for Felinheli in the Tier 2 Genero Adran North, having netted seven goals in 12 games.
Just like Flint have come on in leaps and bounds in the North Wales Women’s League East this season, so has 18-year-old Rosie.
Top-scorer for the Silkwomen with 10 goals last season, she has the same number already this term from just seven matches.
Flint have been piling in the goals in both league and Betty Pickering Cup. Rosie hit four in a 16-0 caning of Bellevue in October.
Ynys Môn star Mia recently returned to Bangor after beginning the season with Amlwch Town in Tier 3.
She scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory at Airbus last month and is settling superbly at Genero Adran North Tier 2 level.
Great signing for Rhyl in the summer from neighbours NFA.
Sade is flying, having netted 15 goals in 12 matches for her new team, including hat-tricks in cup wins over Trearddur Bay and Llanfair United.
While Bangor’s defence has found life tougher this season in the Genero Adran North compared to Tier 3 last term, they still have one of North Wales’ finest goalkeepers to protect them.
Becca has played in 14 matches for the blues so far and has come up with some great performances, keeping five clean sheets.
Has featured in seven games so far, scoring in the 16-0 hammering of Bellevue in October.
A lively, wholehearted performer as always this term, former Connah’s Quay Nomads ace Jennifer was unlucky to have a hat-trick against Welshpool chalked off as the match was abandoned.
Pwllheli have suffered more than most from a lack of games so far, but Sara has featured in all seven matches for the team to date.
The much-travelled all-rounder has combined her skills as a goalkeeper and outfield player for the Llyn side and is proving a great asset as expected.
Has played a part in all but one of Felinheli’s 11 matches so far, scoring once in a 7-0 cup win against Kinmel Bay.
Hana has added a significant presence to the Felin midfield, her experience also doing much to help the younger players along.
A magical signing for Flint this season, having netted 12 goals in five games to date, including nine in her last three matches.
Scorer of back-to-back hat-tricks, Zoe has been a vital part of a dynamic female force at the Essity since joining from NFA in the summer.
Top scorer in North Wales women’s football with 26 goals in just 11 appearances.
She is performing marvels in Llangefni’s quest to win the North Wales Women’s League East title this season.
Rejoined Felinheli in the summer after a great 2022-23 season with CPDM Bangor, her goals as a converted attacker helping them lift the North Wales League title.
Jenna has settled back really well at Cae Seilo, notching three goals in nine appearances so far, including a pair in a 6-2 Genero Adran Trophy victory over Airbus.
With Nomads losing key players like Kirstie Kural and Sienna Strapp before the start of the season, the likes of Shannon Hobbs has really stepped up and helped the Deesiders make a flying start to the campaign.
Shannon has missed the last three games, but has produced a fabulous return of 10 goals in eight outings so far in 2023-24. Nomads are top of Genero Adran North and Shannon is one of the chief reasons for that.
Phenomenal success at Tier 2 level for Llandudno since her summer switch from CPDM Bangor.
The Australian wonder has amassed 25 goals in just 13 games for Tudno and is already beyond the 50-mark in North Wales football.
Really solid keeper who has made nine appearances for Kinmel Bay this season and also got on the scoresheet in a match against Flint.
Has made 10 appearances and scored one goal since returning to Rhyl 1879 from NFA this season.
Found the net in a 6-2 win at Llanfair United in September and has produced some really sound defensive displays in Rhyl’s closer contests.
