One of Ynys Môn’s greatest sportswomen is now a national champion.
Gwenan Môn Williams recently joined the Cardiff-based Dinas Netball Club which won the Senior National Club Championships.
She has moved to the Welsh capital to study for her teacher training qualification.
The talented sportswoman from Gaerwen stood out as joint-captain of Ynys Môn at last month’s inaugural Invitational Netball Island Games in the Isle of Man.
On the success of the National Club Championships, hosts Wales Netball said: “The prestigious occasion displayed incredible talent from all involved and we would like to honour all the teams for their performances throughout the competition.
“We were privileged to see so many exceptional athletes participating in the championship, and it was great to see an abundance of spectators there to support.
“Congratulations to all squads that attended, and a further well done to the winners, runners up and players of the tournament.”
Further good news for the North was the fact Deeside Devils finished overall runners-up.
Winners: Dinas Netball Club
Runners Up: Deeside Devils
Joint third place: Hafod Johnstown & Pontardawe
Player of the Tournament: Lexi Williams-Davies (Hafod Johnstown)
Wales Netball added: “Finally, we would like to express a massive thank you to all the team managers and coaches of each club for their dedication, and a huge thank you to the talented umpires that were selected from across Wales. We wouldn’t be able to organise such an amazing event without them.”
