Mark Hughes hit a hat-trick as Kinmel Bay strengthened their position at the summit.

It was 1st v 3rd at Y Morfa Leisure Centre on Sunday and the hosts were eager to stay top of the league with theirs being the only match going ahead.

The home team took the lead after only 2 minutes when a cross from Tyler Oakley-Evans was put in the back of the net by in-form midfielder Hughes.

Both teams played some impressive football but it was the Llanfairfechan defence and keeper that were the busier.

After applying a barrage of pressure, Kinmel doubled their lead when the ball fell kindly to Hughes around 8 yards out to coolly slot home.

The visiting team made a few changes at half time and were soon having chances of their own, however it was Hughes who was next on the scoresheet to complete his hat-trick with a low-drilled shot from the edge of the box on 61 minutes.

Llanfairfechan managed to pull one back on the 66th minute from a Jamie Haggas free kick which bounced unkindly in front of the Bay keeper and found the back of the net.

Bay put the game to bed in the 82nd minute. A ball out from the back was brought down by youngster Caelan Harms who played a perfectly weighted pass to league top scorer Jacob Jones and he rifled his shot past the keeper to seal the points.
