Manager Elliott Hale was delighted to see his Flint team reach double figures for a second consecutive game as they romped to victory at The Oval.

Tegan Crockett led the way by scoring a hat-trick for a second match in a row, making it nine goals in five outings for the 19-year-old, having netted in all of her appearances for the Silkwomen so far.

Hale said: “We made a really good start to the Betty Pickering Cup, taking our chances and that was proven as we came away with such an emphatic result,

“Caernarfon was my first game in charge (Feb 26 this year) and it was 2-0 to us, so looking back and seeing what we have done already in that short period of time is really what we wanted to be achieving.

“The girls dug deep today; we had a few feeling a bit under the weather, but not one moan just dug in and got the job done against a much-improved Caernarfon side.”

Crockett netted in the very first minute from a Jennifer Haynes assist and it was 2-0 on 18 minutes when captain Ruby McGilloway found the net.

Rosie Hughes teed up Crockett for her second, then Taylia Chaloner joined in with the assists as she helped Zoe Stopford make it 4-0.

Elin Roberts replied for Caernarfon on the half-hour, but Stopford completed a double to boost the score to 5-1 at the break, Ruby Hastings with the assist this time.

There was no let up from the visitors in the second half, substitute Jasmine Edwards on target for the second game on the bounce, Hastings again the provider.

Other replacements to come on for Flint were Charlotte Walters and Sinead Beck, manager Hale making sure all 14 travelling squad members got game time.

Crockett brought up her hat-trick on 69 minutes, Rosie Hughes assisting again, then 17-year-old Ruby Hastings opened her account, making it 8-1 thanks to some help from Edwards.

Caernarfon pulled another goal back, but then Rosie Hughes raised her goals total for the season to seven with a quick double, Stopford assisting for the latter one.

Rosie then turned provider again, enabling Taylia Chaloner to net her first for the club.

Flint have won five successive matches since the start of the season and rattled up 39 goals in the process.

A welcome win for the Rhiewsiders in the Betty Pickering Cup at the expense of a weakened Llanystumdwy who travelled with the bare 11 players.

Katie Price – a promising 17-year-old footballer not the famous model – opened the scoring on 44 minutes, then Caitlin Gorman and Josie Pugh added goals in the second half.
