What a whammingly good week for Llandudno FC Under-23’s!
Not only did they win an absolute cracker 8-6 at Chirk AAA Reserves on Saturday, they also defeated Buckley Town Reserves 2-1 tonight (Thursday) in the FAW Reserve League North Cup.
Nathan Williams struck first to put Bucks one-up, a lead they held till half time.
Six minutes into the second half, Kyle Cooper made it 1-1.
Lots of substitutions were made by both camps, but no winning goal arrived until the 88th minute, Jacob Guy setting up Cieran Williams for the decider.
Four net-finders from Jacob Guy did most to help Llandudno emerge victorious in a mind-blowing 14-goal epic at Holyhead Road.
Chirk’s Ryan Houghton opened the scoring after just 4 minutes with the game’s best goal, a 25 yard screamer into the top corner.
Dudno equalised on 10 minutes through a Tom Roberts own goal.
Guy scored his first of four on 23 minutes to put the away side ahead.
However, it spurred on Chirk and they responded in great style to lead 3-2 with two quick goals from Brandon Edwards and Tom Freeman.
Guy scored his second just before the break to level things up at 3-3.
Jordan Hadaway put the away side ahead straight from the restart but substitute Jack Jones equalised immediately to level it up again at 4-4.
However, two quick goals from Guy, for his hat-trick, and a penalty from Danny Holland put Llandudno in charge at 6-4 on the hour.
Back came Chirk with Niall Freeman and Houghton with his second to level things at 6-6 with 10 minutes remaining.
But the away side took all 3 points with 2 late goals from captain Steffan Roberts and Guy with his fourth goal.
What a game!
(thank you to Chirk AAA for a fantastic report on the above thriller)
Although Ruthin were always behind in this nine-goal corker, they ended up making a good fight of it.
Seth Evans missed an early penalty for the hosts and Saints dished out punishment in the shape of two goals before half time, both from Joel Gardner.
Two Ifan Jones penalties in quick succession after the break put Town back in it, although a Jake Canavan effort ensured TNS were 3-2 up on the hour.
Sub Hadif Hizamshol notched a fourth for the visitors on 71, Luke Holmans replied, but goal number five from Frankie Kynaston-Bradbury appeared to have settled it for the Salopians.
Sean Kell did get one back for Ruthin two minutes into added time to set up a tense finish, but the away side held on.
Dan Richardson and Cameron Boyle notched the crucial goals which earned Llay maximum spoils at Roe Plas Meadows.
Archie Jones responded for the Saints.
