A fifth straight win in all competitions put Denbigh level on points with leaders Flint Town United at the North Wales Women’s League East summit.

Goals from Ceri Purvis, Natalie Harrison and Shannon Jones secured three points at Y Morfa Leisure Centre on Sunday.

The visitors began the match with confidence and after 13 minutes Shannon Jones crossed for Elen Jones but her header was comfortably saved by Shelby Wild.

Chances were initially at a premium on a tight pitch that saw each side struggle to find space, particularly in the middle of the park.

On 32 minutes Town went close when Charlotte Cooper was through on goal but pushed wide. She got a shot away only to strike the bottom of the post.

Kinmel Bay’s first opportunity came on 42 minutes when Jess Jones ran through on goal beating the offside trap, but keeper Young produced a fine save.

Eventually the deadlock was broken as the returning from injury Natalie Harrison was brought down in the Bay box and the referee pointed to the spot. Purvis stepped up a minute after her effort from range shaved the top of the bar and duly converted from the spot.

HALF-TIME: Kinmel Bay 0-1 Denbigh Town

Not much in the way of chances at the start of the second half, but that all changed on 58 minutes as Denbigh won a free-kick just inside the Bay half.

Mali Thomas delivered and the hosts failed to clear their lines, allowing Harrison to pounce and rifle home on her birthday.

On the hour mark it was almost three when Meg Edwards cut inside from the left before hitting one inches over.

Kinmel Bay weren’t out of it however, and Georgia Williams ran through one-on-one before Young sprung to action to deny.

With six minutes to play it was almost wrapped up when Beth Kell won the ball deep in Bay territory before crossing for Sophie Bancroft who just couldn’t keep her effort from looping over the bar.

In stoppage time a loose ball on the edge of the box was latched on to by Shannon Jones who won the race and curled the ball into the top corner for 3-0.

Town are next in action when they travel to Pwllheli in the Betty Pickering Cup on November 12.

Caernarfon Town 2 (L Jones 32, Brown 87)

All-square at Dwyfor Park in a good battle between two determined sides.

Lisa Jones gave Caernarfon a 32nd minute lead, but it was not long before Heledd Savage equalised.

Then on 38 minutes, Sian-Elin Morgan-Price, a player noted for her ability to score cracking goals, put Llanystumdwy 2-1 up.

It looked like the points were going to the home side before in the 87th minute, Amber Brown rescued a point for the Cofis with her first goal for the team.
