NORTH WALES COAST EAST LEAGUE DIVISION ONE REPORTS – SEPTEMBER 16

Caer Clwyd 2 (Wynne, Williams pen)
Rhyl Dragons 4 (Campion, Gibbon pen, Cassidy 2)

Veteran striker Adam Cassidy made it six goals in five games with a double in Dragons’ excellent win at Myddelton College, Denbigh, on Saturday.

The 41-year-old front man, a prolific net-finder throughout his career with the likes of Meliden and St Asaph, is the forward in form for Dragons, who inflicted a first league defeat of the campaign on Caer Clwyd.

Cassidy, who has been with the Dragons since they formed in 2020 during the Covid lockdown before beginning playing competitively in 2021-22, netted the winner deep into added time at Myddelton.

He was club top-scorer in 2021-22 with 14 goals and has netted the most times for Dragons since they started.

Saturday’s clash saw Dragons take a fifth-minute lead through Paul Campion before Thomas Wynne equalised for Clwyd after 17.

Jack Gibbon converted a penalty on 22 minutes to give the visitors a half-time advantage.

Cassidy made it 3-1 after 66 minutes, James Williams replied for Clwyd from the penalty spot, but with 90+11 on the clock, Cassidy’s second goal made the game safe.

Henllan 3 Llandudno Amateurs 4

With leaders Bow not in action, the Amateurs moved to within three points of the table-toppers with a close-fought win at Top Park.

Azz Rogers plundered a 93rd minute winner for the visitors, whose other goals came via Jordan Tidswell (2) and Mike Chapman.

Josh Jones and Harry Payne (2) kept Henllan right in the contest, the latter making it 3-3 in the 88th minute.

Rhos United 4 Betws-y-Coed 4

An eight-goal thriller at Brookfield Drive ended all-square.

Tommy Edwards notched a hat-trick and Scott Court a single fpr Rhos, but Betws bagged a point thanks to goals from Connor Egelstaff-Thomas, Connor Court, captain Elliot Llewellyn and a late Luke Snape penalty.

Prestatyn Wanderers 4 Penrhyn Bay 6

Jay Sutton (2), Ryan Williams (2), Stan Farrell and Morgan Groom shared the goals for Penrhyn Bay, who sit an impressive third in the table after their latest victory.

Connor Hughes and a Callum Foster hat-trick kept the Wanderers in the hunt.

Glan Conwy 2 CPD Y Glannau 1

The in-form David Hansom struck twice to earn Glan Conwy the spoils over visitors Y Glannau.

The 18-year-old Hansom, who has netted seven goals in his last three games, could have notched a hat-trick at Cae Ffwt on Saturday had he not missed a penalty.

Harrison Bellis replied for Y Glannau with his 16th goal of the campaign.

This was the only game in the division not to feature a team scoring four goals. Seven of the 12 sides achieved that feat on Saturday.

Llysfaen 4 Rhyl All Stars 4

Substitute Reece Kearney’s 82nd minute equaliser salvaged a point for hosts Llysfaen.

It was 3-3 at the interval, Lee Fallas, Dan Batey (pen) and George Edwards striking for the home side, Sam Lloyd (2) and Kyle Lally responding for Robert Cunnah’s men.

Joe Smith edged the All Stars 4-3 up on 56 minutes and it stayed that way until Kearney finished off a Fallas assist with eight remaining.
