Bute Energy Welsh Cup report: CPDM Bangor 2 Airbus UK Broughton 0

BUTE ENERGY WELSH CUP QUALIFYING ROUND
CPD Merched Bangor 2 (M Evans 57, G Roberts 62)
Airbus UK Broughton 0
After progressing in the Welsh Cup at the weekend Bangor will look to get their first league points on the board when they host Connah’s Quay Nomads at Nantporth Stadium this Sunday (September 24).
Following three straight defeats, Bangor turned the tide with a well-deserved victory over fellow Genero Adran North outfit Airbus in the national knockout.
The first half was goalless, but two goals in five minutes after the break from Menna Evans and Gwen Roberts secured the home side’s passage to the first round proper.
Evans made the breakthrough on 57 minutes with a delightful chip over the keeper following a stunning through ball from Cerys Macdonald.

Roberts doubled the lead when she slotted away the ball calmly into the corner of the goal after another lovely pass from Seren Macdonald.
Coach Aron Griffith had this to say after the match: “Mega happy for the girls as they deserved that today after some tough opening games. We had plenty of the ball and played the waiting game, passing it across and looking for the opening which happened in the second half.
“Into the next round of the Welsh Cup now, so who know what exciting match up we will get.
“Back to league action Sunday with an extremely tough game against Connah’s Quay, but hopefully that performance against Airbus will give us confidence going into it.”
