Holyhead are up to second in Division One after maintaining their 100 percent record at the weekend with a third straight league win.
And Saturday’s success was a big one, as the Harbourmen overcame Caergybi 2-0 in a Holyhead derby at Millbank.
Two teams in good form clashed for the local bragging rights and three valuable points.
In what was a great game, Caergybi were direct in their play whereas Town showed patience and played some tidy football in their build-ups.
The opening Town goal was scored by Craig Moore after 21 minutes, the striker being set up by Andy Will on the right side with a great cross.
The second goal came soon after with Andy Will recording a peach of a goal. Tony Meyer passed to Will just inside the box, and with the outside of his right foot he let fly with an effort which struck the inside of the post, hit the keeper and nestled the back of the net. That’s how the first half ended.
In the second half, the pace of the game slowed, which suited the hosts. Town played some nice football and were able to contain and frustrate Caergybi for the duration of the half.
The Holyhead Town replacements made the difference with the energy and enthusiasm to keep the clean sheet and see the game out.
“Fantastic all-round performances from every squad player,” said the Town management of Mark Queen, Carl Taylor and Si Thomas at the end.
