Dave Evans steps down as FC Queen’s Park manager

Dave Evans (front row – furthest left) celebrates winning the Mike Beech Memorial Trophy with FC Queen’s Park last season

Dave Evans has announced he is stepping down from his role as FC Queen’s Park manager.

One of the most respected figures in Wrexham area football, Dave led the Park to a fantastic treble last season.

The current campaign had not started as well, with reigning tier 4 North East Wales Premier Division champions Park failing to win in their first three league matches.

A former Queen’s Park player, Dave became joint-manager of the first team alongside the late Martin Ford in 2015-16.

The team went on to reach the FAW Trophy semi-finals and win the Welsh National (Wrexham Area) League Premier Division title in 2016-17, earning promotion to the Cymru Alliance.

Martin passed away in 2018 and Dave went on to lead Queen’s Park in the new North East Wales League Premier Division.

Last season, the Park won the treble of Premier Division title, Horace Wynne Cup and Mike Beech Memorial Trophy. The club’s reserves also scooped a league and cup double.

Dave, 47, is also a coach at the Liverpool FC Academy, holds a UEFA B licence and is a British Army Officer (Infantry).

He continued to make himself available as a player for Queen’s Park and was a regular in the Vets team.

Dave gave out the following statement in announcing his resignation today:

“Thank you to everyone at the club for all the effort you have given. Two league titles (Tier 3 and 4), eight cup finals (five of which we won) have been an unbelievable time over four seasons.

“The time has come for me to leave and concentrate on other areas. Anyone reading this with an itch to get involved should contact this page immediately, as you will not find a closer, more family knit club than this.  It is a sleeping giant with a fan base unlike any other.

“Thank you to everyone and good luck with the season.
