Ruthin Town are seeking a new manager following the departure of Dave Evans.
The big question now is, who will take over at the Cymru North club?
A few names are doing the rounds, but nothing concrete has emerged – at least that is the situation as we write.
After Friday night’s 4-0 defeat at Airbus UK Broughton, Ruthin lie fourth bottom of the Tier 2 Cymru North with just two wins in 13 matches to date.
News of Evans’ exit emerged on the club’s social media on Monday,
The club said in a statement: “Ruthin Town FC can confirm that first team manager Dave Evans has departed the club.
“Dave joined as assistant manager in 2023 before stepping up to lead the first team in 2024. He guided the side through some challenging seasons; including our year away from home during ground renovations with professionalism and commitment.
“Everyone at the club would like to thank Dave for his hard work, dedication, and contribution to Ruthin Town FC. He will always be welcome at the club, and we wish him all the very best for the future.”
Evans took over as first team boss at the Memorial Playing Fields in March 2024.
His first game in charge delivered a 3-1 victory at Llanidloes Town.
The previous FC Queen’s Park manager got off to a flyer, Town winning four of their first five league games under his leadership, picking up 13 points out of a possible 15.
Ruthin ended the season in a very handy seventh spot, also getting to the NEWFA Challenge Cup quarter-finals, where they lost at home to Gresford Athletic.
Last season was much tougher for the Vale of Clwyd club, but they escaped relegation on the final day of the campaign when Jamie Reed’s late overhead kick ensured a 1-0 victory over Bangor 1876 which also sent the Citizens down.
This season has continued to be a struggle for Ruthin and Evans has now left the club.
