Stunning Trearddur Bay show includes one of the club’s greatest ever goals from Ry Lees

Asa Thomas made it back-to-back hat-tricks in the league as Trearddur Bay swept past Anglesey rivals Amlwch.

The away side won the toss and decided they would try to use the blustery conditions to their advantage in the first half, opting to shoot towards the circus tent that loomed large behind the goal frame.

However, their game plan received a big setback on five minutes after some lovely build up play down the right flank from the Beachboys. Thomas beat his man and cleverly cut back to strike partner Justin Williams to slot home from close range.

Three minutes later, energetic midfielder Myles Jones waltzed through the Amlwch defence and slipped a neat ball into Thomas and he made no mistake with a cool finish.

Despite the home side’s dominance and brilliant football the visitors remained resolute and can thank goalkeeper Callum Truchuon, who made some smart saves to keep the score down.

Amlwch’s attempt to turn the game scrappy worked and the home side’s rhythm was affected. On 29 minutes, Chris Byast reduced the deficit, making it 2-1 at half time.

The second half started with the home side having the wind behind them. With Town pinned back in their own half, Bay turned the screw.

Six minutes after the break an inswinging corner was not cleared properly and Tom Scott managed to flick on to Ry Lees, who delivered an unbelievable instinctive acrobatic overhead volley in off the crossbar – cue wild celebrations.

Two minutes later, Thomas again got in on the act.

The move started with captain and skipper Paul Prtichard playing out from the back to defensive pairing of Joe Donovan and the switch to Luke Roberts.

He then played it out wide and the ball was clipped forward by Scott into the path of Myles Jones who produced another intricate pass to Melvin McGinness. He then held off a defender and rolled it into Thomas, who curled it into the bottom corner to put the game to bed at 4-1.

Magical goal and an example of how to play football properly and how easy the game can look when you play the right way.

Knowing the result was secured the management made some substitutions to keep everyone gaining minutes. This saw the introduction of new Bay signing Matty Reynolds who immediately made an impact.

A ball into his feet from midfield pass master Jay Gibbs saw Reynolds beat his man and deliver a cross field pass to Thomas to complete his second hat-trick in two games.

And with the final kick of the game it was another substitute who had an impact.

After good work down the left hand side resulted in a free-kick. Thomas turned provider and whipped in a low cross which was turned in at the front post by veteran centre back Marcus Bell with a flick finish to complete the scoring.
