Remembering Marc ‘Logs’ Evans’ finest seasons – a celebration of a natural born goal scorer

Nomadic Anglesey striker Marc Evans is on the move again.
The 33-year-old net-buster extraordinaire, popularly known as ‘Logs’, joined Llangefni Town this week for the second time in his career.
Evans has played for 13 clubs since debuting in senior football in 2006-07 – 10 of them in North Wales and three in New Zealand.
His career goals tally is unknown, but is thought to be in excess of 400. He has played at all levels of the Welsh football pyramid, including a spell at Porthmadog in the Cymru Premier in 2009/10.
Here is a look back at some of Logs’ best seasons…..
2008-09 – Holyhead Hotspur (30+ goals)
Hotspur’s most successful season in tier 2 saw them finish runners-up and coincided with the fact a young Marc Evans was their star striker with more than 30 goals.
The exact number of times he found the net in 2008-09 is not known, but he definitely passed the 30-mark.
Only Cymru Alliance champions Bala Town finished above Hotspur, whose other key players that season included Curt Williams, Simon Davies, Lee Webber and Kenleigh Owen.
2015-16 and 2017-20 – Melville United (92 goals)

Evans made a huge impact in New Zealand football with the then semi-professional Northern Regional Football League Premier side Melville United.
Melville United AFC is a Hamilton-based football club formed by the 1996 amalgamation of Melville AFC (1972) and Waikato United (1988).
Evans joined Melville mid-season 2015-16 and scored a flood of goals before moving to Hamilton in September 2016.

He returned to Melville, where in 2017-18 he broke the club record for most goals in a season (36) when he netted 39 and won the Player of the Season award.
In total, he scored 92 goals in 88 appearances for the Kiwi club, making him their all-time top scorer since the 1996 amalgamation.
2012-13 – Rhyl FC (21 goals)
In 2012-13, Rhyl became the only team in the history of the tier 2 Cymru Alliance to emerge through an entire season unbeaten – a 30-game undefeated streak.
As part of a dynamic front-line also including David Forbes and Steve Lewis, Evans contributed 17 league goals as Greg Strong’s side were crowned champions, and Logs scored 21 times in all competitions, but before the end of the campaign he had moved to home village Gwalchmai.
2014-15 – Llandudno (31 goals)

By the end of the 2014-15 campaign Evans was celebrating again, winning a third Cymru Alliance championship-winning medal and knocking in 31 goals as top-scorer for Tudno.
Evans did not join the Seasiders in their first venture into the Welsh Premier – he started a new life in New Zealand instead,
2011-12 – Glantraeth (39 goals)
Logs truly caught fire when he featured for Glantraeth’s Welsh Alliance Division Two and league cup double-winners of 2011/12.
He finished up the division’s top scorer with 31 goals and grabbed 39 in all matches. In his first 14 appearances for the team, he bagged 30 goals in all competitions.
2021-22 – Bodedern Athletic (68 goals)

By far Evans’ most prolific season as he finished not just top-scorer in the tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division, but also for the whole of North Wales senior football.
As part of the championship-winning Bodedern side, he shared in a 126-goal strike partnership with fellow net-finding machine Asa Thomas.
Evans chalked up 10 hat-tricks during the campaign.
