DIVISION TWO

St Asaph 2nd XI (2) 103-10 Brymbo 2nd XI (13) 177-5

Unbeaten Brymbo seconds hold a 32-point lead at the Division Two summit following their latest victory on Saturday.

The Steelmen made it 13 wins in 14 matches – one abandonment – by recording a 74-run triumph at St Asaph seconds.

Inserted by the hosts, Brymbo racked up 177-5 off their 40 overs. Craig Morris the star batter with 50 not out, opener Joss Roberts adding 47 and Fraser Smellie 31.

Asked to bat in a game reduced to 36 overs per side due to rain, the hosts set 148-3, opener Andy Williams adding 31 to the total.

Connor Hughes bagged 2-24 for the away side, who were then dismissed for 77.

Hari Williams took 2-0, Peter Jones 2-11, Mehul Ahir 2-15 and Ollie Dawson 2-26 as the home attack did a good combined job on the Carmel batting line-up.

Despite 44 from skipper John Williams and Joseff Roberts’ commendable effort of 37, Mold seconds finished up agonisingly short of victory on 129 all out in 38.3.
