Bangor 1876 goal machine Corrig McGonigle has been deservedly honoured for an outstanding 2022-23 by receiving the Ardal North West Player of the Season award.
McGonigle, in his first full season with the fan-owned club, netted 56 goals in all competitions, including 37 in the league, which made him ANW top marksman by some distance.
Since joining 1876 in February 2022, Anglesey-based McGonigle has become the club’s record scorer with 90 goals in 50 appearances. The 26-year-old is closing in on 400 career goals.
McGonigle scored twice in the Ardal Northern play-off final, which saw Bangor beat Cefn Albion 4-2 to earn promotion to the Cymru North.
Neil Mitchell of Ardal North East champions Caersws was named that league’s Player of the Season.
Ardal North West Manager of the Season went to Dewi Llion Jones of title-winners Denbigh Town.
As well as finishing top of the ANW, Jones also led Town to Ardal Northern League Cup success and reached the FAW Trophy Final.
Manager of the Season for Ardal North East was Bow Street’s Llyr Hughes.
Winners of the Fair Play Awards were: Ardal North West – Denbigh Town and Ardal North East – Caersws.
