North Wales Cricket League Divs 2-4: Brymbo seconds and Llanrwst both unstoppable

NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – JUNE 17

DIVISION TWO

Brymbo 2nd XI (15) 219-6 Mold 2nd XI (0) 102-10

Henry Lunn struck a career best 94 not out for a Brymbo seconds outfit which made it nine wins out of nine in Division Two.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, the leaders put together a formidable score of 219-6 off 40 overs.

Wicket-keeper Lunn’s innings dominated, but there were also useful knocks from Chris McCartney (38) and Sam Aplin (35)

Gareth Davies landed 3-49 for Mold seconds, who were then all sent back to the hutch for just 102, captain Chris Boulton scoring 38.

Ross Roberts produced stunning figures of 6-4 off three overs, while William Roberts bagged 2-14.

Maximum spoils for Brymbo seconds, who lead the table by 26 points from nearest challengers Llanrwst.

Buckley 2nd XI (1) 110-10 St Asaph 2nd XI (14) 113-2

Ieuan Jones pocketed 3-33 and Elliot Goddard 2-10 off seven overs as St Asaph seconds dismissed hosts Buckley seconds for just 110 at Lane End.

Harrison Speed (24) and Craig Lawton (22) made the biggest contributions for Bucks, who were unable to stop Saints cruising to 113-2 off 24.2, David Lloyd 40, Ieuan Jones 35 no.

Gresford 2nd XI (13) 167-5 Hawarden Park 2nd XI (2) 163-8

A top match score of 50 from Gresford seconds opener Gez Jones helped his team pull off a five-wicket victory at home to Hawarden Park seconds.

Inserted by the opposition, Park posted 163-8 from 40, Craig Wilson 49, Matt Daulby poaching 4-31 and Joshua Thomas 3-28 for the hosts.

In reply, Gresford got to 167-5 in 38.3, Gez Jones well supported by James Griffin (31) and a series of other double-figure scores.

Llanrwst (15) 222-6 Carmel & District (0) 100-10

Hosts Llanrwst made the most of being asked to bat first as they amassed 222-6 off their 40 overs.

Opener Iwan Edwards hit 75 and Johann Fourie 58, while there were other useful contributions which ensured a 200-plus total.

Noah Murray-Jones took 2-30 and Danny Owens 2-54 for the visitors, who were subsequently rolled over for just 100, Caron Williams 3-10 and Fourie 2-5 for the Conwy Valley side, who celebrated a 15-0 outcome.

Mochdre 2nd XI (12) 148-7 Bersham (3) 147-9

Mochdre’s early stranglehold on Bersham’s batting made sure the visitors were unable to set an imposing score at Swan Road.

Four very quick wickets fell before the middle order did better, ensuring the away side were limited to 147-9. Skipper Jonath David was leading Bersham run-getter with 28.

Daniel Phillips grabbed 3-24 and Andrew Butlin 3-29 for the hosts, who went on to reach a winning 148-7 in 35.2.

Openers Jon Davies (34) and Zack Coverley (30) put the home team nicely on course for the victory, David with 3-21 for the Colliers.

Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (11) 187-7 Bangor 2nd XI (4) 185-7

A close-fought battle at Alder Meadow saw Pontblyddyn seconds finish on top by just two runs.

Pont set 187-7, skipper Richard Davies 44 and Nick Thomas 40, before a great lower order stand between Ethan Roberts (36 no) and David Brilley (25 no) really boosted the score.

Subhan Khan pouched 3-30 and Jamie Camilleri 3-33 for the Citizens.

Bangor seconds went for it in reply, but ended just short on 185-7 despite good efforts from Jamie Davies, crucially run out on 58, Chris Barry 44 and Pavan Zala 36.

Ethan Roberts produced an excellent return of 3-18 off eight for victors Pont.

DIVISION THREE

Clwb Criced Caernarfon (14) 160-9 Bethesda 2nd XI (1) 73-10

Monis Altaf’s key knock of 67 did much to ensure Caernarfon’s total was more than enough to overcome Bethesda seconds at Coed Helen.

Invited to bat, the Cofis chalked up 160-9 off their 40 overs, Altaf the star man, while for Pesda, Aayushman Goswami took 2-17 and John Maloney 2-21.

Roddy Denton shone brightest with the ball for the home side, gathering 5-25 as the visitors were dismissed for just 73, Rory Shaw bagging 3-5.

Connah’s Quay 2nd XI (4) 127-10 Denbigh 2nd XI (11) 137-10

Great scoring down the card from John Lloyd-Williams (33) and Ollie Harding (30) helped Denbigh seconds make a sufficient amount of runs to edge a low-scoring game.

Batsmen seven and eight Harding and Lloyd-Williams guided the visitors to 137 all out, Jack Griffiths 3-13, Stephen Norbury 2-16 and Andy Tilley 2-17 for the Quay.

The hosts could only manage 127 in response, Cole Hooson (51) and skipper Tilley (34) the major contributors, Darren Nixon taking 5-26 and Lloyd-Williams 3-11 for the winners.

Corwen (13) 141-4 Conwy 2nd XI (2) 139-7

Promotion-chasers Corwen enjoyed a convincing six-wicket triumph at the War Memorial Ground.

Conwy seconds won the toss and batted, posting a modest 139-7 from 40 overs, Toby Watson 33 not out, Simon Harrison 3-15, Gareth Rigden 2-16 and Jason Jones 2-27 for the hosts.

Corwen hit back with 141-4 in just 26.4 overs, openers Harry Pooler (46) and Aminul Sany (34) standing out before captain Harrison (22 no) and Jon Turner (20 no) saw them across the finish line with some comfort, Alex Price 2-37 for the visitors.

Llandudno 2nd XI (14) 212-2 Gwersyllt Park 2nd XI (1) 211-4

Ajay Dhawan

Ajay Dhawan scored a second best career league score of 91 not out as Llandudno chased down a large target at The Oval.

Gwersyllt Park seconds were put in and amassed a very good 211-4 off 40, Matthew Jones with 77, Neil Green 61 and Paul Maloney 40, Ranjith Thozhuthingal taking 2-31 for the hosts.

Tudno made it to 212-2 from 36.1, Dhawan, who struck 16 fours in his innings and Jake Sumbland, hitting 15 boundaries in his 78 not out, producing the key partnership.

Ruthin (14) 147-3 Mynydd Isa & Maeshafn (1) 146-7

Table-toppers Ruthin were grateful to skipper Jamie Hughes for a vital 58 not out in his team’s latest success.

The visitors opted to bat and were restricted to 146-7 off 40, Umang Desai 52 no and Abs Dey 43, Ned Roberts 3-19 and Matthew Duckworth 2-11 from eight for the hosts.

Ruthin responded with a winning 147-3 off 37.2, Hughes’ half-ton well backed by Ieuan Wynne Lewis (38 no) in a match-deciding partnership, Prasad Jadhav 2-34 for MI & M.

DIVISION FOUR

Bersham 2nd XI (2) 101-10 Abergele 2nd XI (13) 103-5

Berwyn Thomas snatched a crucial 4-22 as Bersham seconds were bowled out for just 101, tail-ender Robbie Mates top-scoring with 26 not out.

Gareth Edwards claimed 2-20 and Adil Hussain 2-25 for an impressive Gele attack.

The visitors got home on 103-5 off 29.5, Sebin Sebastion with an important 33 not out, Kieran Taylor 25 no, Steffan Lloyd 2-23 for the home team.

Carmel & District 2nd XI (0) 45-10 Halkyn 2nd XI (15) 47-1

Sion Barnes scooped 5-24 as Halkyn seconds rolled over Carmel seconds for just 45 in 20.2 overs.

Halkyn eased to 47-1 in only 5.2, Aaron Thomas 23 not out.

Hawarden Park 3rd XI (0) 96-10 Pwllheli (15) 206-10

Skipper Adam Williams led the charge with 63 not out and Neil Williams made 39 as Pwllheli were bowled out for 206, Ela Closs-Sharp 3-38 and Jake Aplin 2-35 for the hosts.

Hawarden thirds were sent packing for just 96, Ben Cowper 6-12 and Harri Adams 2-1 for the maximum points scoring visitors.

Marchwiel & Wrexham 2nd XI (12) 106-6 Llanrwst 2nd XI (3) 104-10

Llanrwst seconds were put in and all removed for just 104, Mike Lee registering 3-13 and Jeremy Wilks 2-16 for the hosts, who secured victory with 106-6 off 27.1, Gaz Jones 3-22 and Dewi Parry 2-30 for the visitors.
