Meet the new three-man management team in charge at Llandudno Amateurs

Two new faces will form part of a three-man management team at Llandudno Amateurs next season.

Since Carl Nichols announced he was stepping down to devote more time to family life, the tier 5 North Wales Coast East Division One club has been working behind the scenes to put a new management set-up in place.

The Amateurs can now confirm Rhys Lane and Josh Boyle will lead operations alongside existing club stalwart Gaz Sharp, who ran the team with Nichols last season.

Lane is the new manager, Sharp player and joint-manager and Boyle assistant-manager/tactical coach.

An Amateurs club statement said: “All three will work closely to try and succeed at the club and with the players we already have and potentially the new players coming in we feel confident enough we can achieve our goals for the season.”

Last season the Amateurs were runners-up in the NWCFA Junior Cup and third in Division One.

New recruit Lane, a grassroots football enthusiast from Llandudno, has a good past record in management.

He formed Llandudno Athletic in 2014, and although the club initially struggled, they won the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Cup and President’s Cup double Athletic in 2018-19.

Sadly, they were forced to disband in 2019 due to a lack of players.

Rhys went on to have spells working at Llanfairfechan Town and Llandudno, but is now ready to step back into management with the Amateurs.

Josh has coached at Llandudno academy and after a year out of the game for health reasons is keen to get back involved.

When asked what he can bring to the club, he said: “Enthusiasm, modern ideas, attention to detail and most of all, hard work.”
