Denbigh had won 14 on the bounce, but suffered a shock 4-2 defeat at Llay and really needed to bounce back at tricky Llanrwst a few days later to re-establish themselves as title favourites.
And Town went a goal down to Sam Thomas’ 23rd minute effort, but Nathan Brown levelled before half time.
The visitors then showed their mettle as two late Craig Pritchard goals secured the win and put their championship quest back on course.
Ruthless display from Denbigh at Belle Vue – arguably their finest performance of the season.
Jason Foulkes netted in the first half, then Craig Pritchard, Paul Fleming and Jacob Walker struck after the break.
Denbigh imposed a few heavy defeats on opponents over the season, but at times they had to scrap out wins too.
This was the case at Maes Dulyn, where Paul Fleming’s 56th minute goal sealed the points, but Town had to defend well to get the victory with keeper Aaron Jones in fine form.
Matthew Worrall put Denbigh ahead on the hour, but 1876 came back strongly and it needed some fine Aaron Jones stops to prevent an equaliser.
Then in injury time, Jason Foulkes scored the killer second that secured the visitors a double over Bangor.
This was the night where Denbigh showed they truly were title contenders.
Town outplayed Bangor for the most part and should have won more emphatically than 1-0, but Matthew Worrall’s eighth minute goal was enough to clinch the honours.
Denbigh trailed to a third-minute Jack Higgins goal, but Nathan Brown levelled on 27 minutes and Jacob Walker grabbed the winner on 54.
Rhyl were going well at the time, but a determined home side stopped them in their tracks.
