Sixteen-year-old new signing Yasmin Wilcox well and truly marked her arrival as a Trearddur Bay player by scoring twice in the team’s 3-1 win over Llanystumdwy on Sunday.
Hosts Bay got off to a solid start with some early chances. After eight minutes they took the lead as Rhian Griffiths’ good work down the left kept the ball in play and she found Freya Davies, who finished well.
Bay increased their dominance, creating a number of openings, but could not find another breakthrough.
After half an hour, Gemma Thomas played a good ball through to youngster Wilcox, who passed the ball into the back of the net.
Llan rallied before half time, hitting the crossbar and having a shot cleared off the line, but the home side rode the storm and went into the break two-up.
The second half was much of the same – a good contest between the two sides, with Trearddur just on top.
The Anglesey team had lots of shots on goal, and found the net through Sarah Flower, only for it to be ruled out as offside.
In the 74th minute, teenager Wilcox scored Bay’s third goal of the game, and her second, thanks to another Griffiths assist.
This allowed Trearddur to make some changes, and rest some players ready for upcoming fixtures.
In the 90th minute Llanystumdwy clawed a goal back through their captain Hana Wellings, who finished well under pressure.
The game finished 3-1 to the islanders, and in the end it was a comfortable victory.
