Flint Town United are delighted to bring former Nomad Erin Heathcote on board

Anyone who may wonder why Flint Town United’s newest signing Erin Heathcote has joined the club, an interview with the player we did four years ago gives a big clue!

It was the 2019-20 season when Grassroots North Wales published a Female Focus article on the then 18-year-old.

Erin had joined newly-formed Connah’s Quay Nomads that season when the team was managed by Sara Hilton and Cassie Thomas.

Under the question Funniest Team Mate, Erin stated: “Jenn Haynes, we just bounce off each other.”

Yes, the very same Jennifer Haynes who has also just signed for Flint after three seasons with the Nomads.

So….we can’t say for certain Erin’s move is linked to Jennifer’s, but it just might be the chance to bounce off her former team-mate again influenced the decision!

Born on November 8, 2001, the now 21-year-old Erin plays right or left midfield, although being right-footed she prefers the former.

Her first football team was Northop Hall, where she played alongside North Wales League title-winners like Laura Pennington, Laura Eagles and Rebecca Hughes.

She landed at Nomads in 2019-20 and enjoyed the experience of learning from class players such as Kate Horne, Jasmin Dutton, Candice Nellist and Annmarie Jones.

Nomads had a great first season, going unbeaten in North Wales Division Two and finishing runners-up in a shortened campaign due to Covid.

She was also part of the squad which went all the way to the Welsh Cup semi-finals.

With the 2020-21 season wiped out by the pandemic, Erin has had a break from the game since, but is now ready to give things a go with the ever-improving Flint.

The club said on social media this week: “Erin hasn’t been playing football recently, but after a taster training session with FTU Ladies, she was drawn into the team and we found our latest signing.

“We are delighted you wanted to join the Silkwomen.”

A great admirer of Flintshire girl and Wales international forward Elise Hughes, Erin’s biggest asset is her fitness and passion for the game.

Back in 2019-20, she also revealed her favourite chocolate was Dairy Milk Marvellous Creations Jelly Popping Candy.

Whether that is still the case is unknown, but here’s a good point to end the article…..on a sweet note.

Good luck Erin.
