Two goals from talented 17-year-old Rosie Hughes were the highlight of another encouraging performance from Flint, who moved up two places in the league with Sunday’s draw.
A great game at the Essity Stadium saw the return of Silkwomen captain Sinead Beck from injury, while new players Jennifer Haynes and Erin Heathcote were in the starting line-up.
The game started off strong early doors for Flint as they loaded the pressure high up the pitch in the final third. Denbigh handled the attacks well, despite several chances for the home side in the danger zone.
In a goalless first half, both teams failed to produce a telling ball, squandering what opportunities came their way.
Just a minute into the second half came the breakthrough. Flint’s Tara Davies provided an opening for shining star Rosie Hughes, who sent the ball flying through and over the keeper, giving the home team the upper hand.
With Denbigh still in the game, they slid past Flint’s defensive line on the hour and equalised through Amber Hellon.
The hosts hit back just two minutes later, Rosie Hughes proving her talent once more as she volleyed the ball into the net from outside the box leaving Denbigh’s keeper with no chance.
Denbigh would not give in and Lucy Morris brought them level in the 70th minute.
In the closing stages, both teams sought the winner, but neither could find it.
POTM was,Rosie Hughes, an exemplary display of dedication and passion from the centre-mid who always gives her best performance.
