While Bangor 1876 made it 17 straight wins and moved 24 points clear in top spot, how about a hand for bottom side Caernarfon, who lost 15-0 at home to the blues back in October but made them work really hard for their victory today.
Town’s constant improvement is one of the most heartening stories of the season and one hopes that the first three points come their way very soon.
Bangor’s only goal in the first half came from Awel Ellis.
Midway through the second half, Alys Davis marked just her second appearance and first start for the senior team with a goal.
And 17-year-old prospect, substitute Leni Jones, made it 3-0 on 89 minutes.
Bangor 1876 manager Aron Griffith said: “Brilliant today getting the 3 points, a well-worked win from the girls. Today showed how our squad in-depth is so strong with our injuries and the under-19’s coming in to do the job. Five games left now and we need to keep getting these results in until the end of the season.
“Brilliant seeing two of the 19’s, Alys and Leni, scoring and Leni on her debut for the seniors.
“All credit wasn’t just for our team. The Caernarfon lot gave a massive shift today and pushed us until the 90th minute. They’ve improved massively since our last meeting and it’s only a matter of time for them to get their first win – massively impressed with them.
“Keeping our heads and mentality right is what we need to do now and finish the season off strong.”
Late goals from Magi Hughes and Mari Owen made it eight wins out of nine for Pwllheli, who still look a good bet for runners-up at least if they can capitalise on their many games in hand.
Flint put up a great show, however, another team who are in the lower reaches of the table but continually improving.
Sioned Jones and Bess Roberts twice put the visitors ahead in the first half, but Daisy Hughes and Rosie Hughes equalised each time to make it two-apiece at the interval.
Wrexham stormed to the top of the table as Rosie Hughes added four more goals to her collection in an 8-1 beating of Y Felinheli.
However, while the resourceful Dragons had the luxury of five substitutes, Felin travelled with the bare 11 – and gave their absolute all for 90 minutes.
With each team playing 12 matches, the top two now stand:
Next Sunday will bring a huge showdown when Connah’s Quay host Wrexham. The title rivals also still have to meet at Wrexham on the final day of the season.
Amber Lightfoot, Sophie Hodson, Lily Whitefoot and a Llio Henshaw own goal made up the home eight goals against Felinheli, who replied with a Jordanne Greenough finish from a great Katie Midwinter cross.
