Happy birthday to Bangor University women’s rugby union team club captain Eloise Kirby – 25 today.

Born on December 2, 1997, she shares the same birthday as Britney Spears, but can she sing and dance as well as the pop superstar? Would be no surprise if this sporting wonder woman could!

Eloise has made a welcome return this season to Bangor University, who were crowned undefeated BUCS Northern Tier 3A champions and Varsity double winners last term.

The previous season, Eloise carved her name firmly into varsity history when she was awarded Bangor University Sports Personality of the Year for 2020-21. She followed up by winning the Players’ Player of the Year accolade.

The award was for her major dedication and commitment to keep the women’s rugby section vibrant during the pandemic.

Last season saw Eloise play for Five Ways Old Edwardians in the Women’s NC 1 Midlands league, where she was top try-scorer and coaches player of the year. She also started playing for Lichfield in January 2022.

Hailing from Towcester, Northamptonshire, Eloise returned to Bangor University in the summer, celebrating her graduation with a BSC Psychology First Class Honours degree.

She missed Bangor so much she decided to do her Masters in Sport and Exercise Psychology at the North Wales uni.

Centre Eloise scored two tries in Bangor’s first league game of this season in Northern Tier 2A – a win over Hallam University of Sheffield.

Brilliant to have her back.
