North Wales Coast East Division One – Abergele win clash of titans, Harrison Bellis makes it 21 goals in 9 games for Y Glannau

NORTH WALES COAST EAST LEAGUE REPORTS OCTOBER 15

Division One

Abergele 2 Llandudno Amateurs 1

Jack Hoult struck twice to seal victory for an Abergele side which remains five points clear at the Division One summit.

Taking on an Amateurs team highly fancied to make a title bid and who had not suffered a league defeat in a long time, Gele expected a tough test and they certainly got it.

The away side started strongly and took the lead after 26 minutes courtesy of a headed Kyle Johnson goal.

Abergele were off the pace in the first half and Llandudno went into the break with a deserved 1-0 advantage.

Early in the second half, a corner won by Connah Atkinson was well taken and turned in by Hoult to level the scores.

The introduction of James Lloyd changed the complexion of the game and the momentum swung in Gele’s favour.

Abergele were pressing for a winner and won a free kick that was dispatched well by Hoult for his second of the day.

Both sides found themselves down to 10 men after Hoult and Lloyd McElroy of the Amateurs were dismissed over an off-the-ball incident, but it was Gele who played out the remainder of the match the better to secure all three points.

CPD Henllan 1 CPD Caer Clwyd 2

After trailing 1-0 at the break a dominant second half performance from Caer Clwyd saw them secure maximum points

Ashley Andrews’ 33rd minute strike handed Henllan that interval lead, but after the turnaround, Rhys Brown levelled on 56 and Craig Lavery added the winner midway through the half.

Henllan had Ifan Clayton red-carded deep into added time.

Llysfaen 2 CPD Y Glannau 5

The dynamic Harrison Bellis completed back-to-back hat-tricks and made it a stunning 21 goals from just nine games for Y Glannau at the expense of Llysfaen on Saturday afternoon.

Bellis did not take long at all to strike. He found the net after just 16 seconds, capitalising on a lovely chipped pass from Zak Hughes to finish well.

In just the third minute it was 2-0. Tawse Cox hit a great strike, but it was well watched and saved by Llysfaen keeper Joe Wright-Evans. From the following Josh MacGillivray corner Ged Burke poked goalwards, the keeper saved, but Harrison Bellis was on hand to tap home.

After 10 minutes it was 3-0. Michael Bellis picked up the ball and took on two players, fed twin brother Harrison who tried to find Burke, but his pass was deflected into the path of Joey Fontana whose lovely strike from just outside the box went in off the post.

On 20 minutes the Llysfaen keeper landed awkwardly and had to go off.

The replacement stopper made a couple of good saves before Y Glannau went four-up on 40 minutes, MacGillivray’s delivery from wide finding the net aided by a deflection.

Llysfaen could have given up but they didn’t. They won a penalty which Nihat Sutlubulak took, but Brad Wright saved well.

In the short time up to the interval, Llysfaen were awarded two more spot-kicks. Jake Reynolds converted them both to make it 4-2 at the break.

Llysfaen started the second half the better team, Wright forced to make a good save with his legs to prevent them going just a goal behind.

Both keepers performed well before five minutes from time, a MacGillivray throw-in was smashed in at the back post by Harrison Bellis to complete his hat-trick and that goal clinched the points for the visitors.

Double-figures for NFA with Matthew Marsh-Evans scoring four, Niall McGuinness three, Owen Butters, Ste Falvey and Dylan Cunnah one apiece.
