CATCH-UP: North Wales Coast East League – fine wins for Y Glannau, Kinmel Bay and Saints

Y Glannau are in great form in Division One

NORTH WALES COAST FOOTBALL LEAGUE EAST – REPORTS, OCTOBER 1

Division One

CPD Y Glannau 4 Bow 1

Unbeaten Glannau are up to third in Division One after they recovered from going a goal down to emphatically beat Bow.

The visitors took the lead on five minutes when Barry Roche fired home from the edge of the area.

Soon after Y Glannau were awarded a penalty, but Richard Hillier-Evans brilliantly saved Harrison Bellis’ kick.

The scores were level on 15 minutes when Josh MacGillivray’s corner found the net directly.

Just before the half-hour the hosts went 2-1 up with their best move of the match. Alec Williams played a through ball to Harrison Bellis, who drove across the goal, MacGillivray’s shot was well-saved but Ged Burke was there to smash home the rebound.

Bow scorer Roche was sent off after 31 minutes for two yellows – the first for a bad tackle and the second for follow-up dissent.

All credit to Bow, even with 10 men they did not stop battling. They were the better team in the first 15 minutes of the second half, twice hitting the bar and having a free kick smartly kept out by Bradley Wright.

Y Glannau made a few changes to freshen things in search of a third goal to kill off the game.

Fifteen minutes from time, Harrison Bellis finished from close range via a MacGillivray corner for 3-1.

In the 79th minute, the hosts sealed the win when Joey Fontana headed in another great MacGillivray delivery.

Betws-y-Coed 1 CPD Henllan 4

Betws took an early lead (scorer not supplied) but Henllan recovered to take the points courtesy of Sam Davies, Matthew Parsonage and an Ashley Andrews double.

Rhos United 4 Llysfaen 2

This match was abandoned with 10 minutes left after a bad tackle left Rhos player Matty Graham with two breaks in his leg and three in his ankle, which is also dislocated.

It is believed the result will stand, but that all becomes secondary when a player’s welfare is the primary concern in such cases. Everyone wishes Matty a speedy recovery.

Lewis Sealey (2), Matt Christie and a Jay Collins own goal made up the home tally, Nihat Sutlubulak and Ben Rawlinson replying.

Premier Division

Blaenau Amateurs 3 Kinmel Bay 5

Bay halted a run of three straight league defeats with a fine win at Cae Clyd against a Blaenau side which had been showing a distinct improvement in form.

Ryan Roberts gave the visitors a fourth-minute lead before Ian Dunn doubled the advantage after 18.

Gethin Roberts hit back for the Quarrymen on 24 minutes, but Mason Richards made it 3-1 to the away team before the break.

Jack Diamond revived Blaenau’s hopes with their second three minutes after the restart, but Bay restored that two-goal cushion soon after through Connor Morris.

Sion Hughes cut the deficit after 62, but Kinmel sealed the points through Declan Bellamy’s 76th minute strike.

Llandudno Junction 0 St Asaph City 3

Saints enjoy a three-point lead at the summit following Saturday’s success at the Flyover Ground.

Ray Knight broke the deadlock on 26 minutes, Jack Williams doubled the lead after 72 and substitute Jacob Gilbert-Jones completed the scoring with 81 on the clock.

CPD Llansannan 3 Llanfairfechan Town 3

Visitors Llanfair fought back from 2-0 and 3-1 down to force a draw at Cae Chwarae Maes Gogor.

Leon Gierke and James Thomas (penalty) both struck to put the hosts two-up within the opening half-hour.

Ryan Dodd replied from the penalty spot for Town seven minutes into the second half, but the visitors were down to 10 when Sam Regan was shown a red card on 56.

When Thomas made it 3-1 from another penalty on 57, it looked like curtains for Llanfair, whose game at Llandyrnog the previous week featured FIVE spot-kicks.

But the away side kept trying. Matthew Williams cut the arrears on 63 and Ellis Jones equalised on 76 to salvage a point.
