After four straight defeats – although they played well in all matches – Kinmel Bay finally got the win they deserved to reach the second round of the Intermediate Cup.
Andy Thomas, Leon Field and Alex Craig’s side now entertain Anglesey’s Gwalchmai in the next stage of this tier 4 knockout competition on October 15.
Saturday’s tie at Y Morfa was, as expected, a fast, fitness-based game decided by narrow margins of play.
Bay came into the match with confidence having pushed tier 2 club Conwy Borough so hard in a 3-2 Welsh Cup defeat seven days earlier.
However, Junction struck first when their consistent hitman Jack Williams scored half an hour in.
Early in the second half, Kinmel equalised through Tate Walker, Connor Morris setting him up.
Losing Daniel Prince to a red card in the 61st minute put Junction under more pressure and Morris this time assisted Ryan Roberts to land the second and decisive goal for the hosts in the 74th minute.
Added time goals from Steffan Tomos (penalty) and Gruffudd Roberts sent Llansannan through after the tie looked set to be decided on penalties.
An epic clash had seen James Thomas give the hosts an eighth-minute lead before Chris Byast levelled on 14 and Jordan Edney made it 2-1 after 18.
The topsy-turvy nature of the tie continued as Thomas equalised and Ifan Jones edged Sannan in front before half time.
When Ifan Jones made it a brace early in the second half, the home team were 4-2 up and seemingly heading to round two.
However, Amlwch and particularly Edney, had other ideas, the forward netting twice for his hat-trick, making it 4-4 with 83 minutes gone.
Then came those dramatic late goals which sent Llansannan into the next stage.
Outstanding 17-year-old Connor Owen struck twice to reach 13 goals for the season as Gwalchmai advanced after a great battle ay Cerrig.
Owen put the Anglesey visitors two-up with strikes on 3 and 47 minutes, then a Robert Parry own goal made it three after 57.
Cerrig fought back with goals from Sion Hughes on 62 minutes and substitute Llion Thomas on 81, but it was not enough.
Penrhyn led at Cae’r Delyn until the 71st minute through Gwion Davies’ first-half goal, but then Nefyn ran riot in the closing stages to win the tie.
Osian Jones equalised after 71, Tomi Evans edged the Penwaig in front on 75 and Deio Gwilym made it 3-1 with 78 gone.
Guto Sion Roberts’ 86th minute penalty made absolutely sure of a home win and Mark Jones put the cherry on the cake when he bagged a fifth in added time.
