Chirk’s recent tendency to leak far too many runs cost them again as defeat at Frankton put a heavy dent in their title hopes.
The North Wales side slipped down to fourth after this latest loss which leaves them 11 points off the lead with two rounds of matches left.
Put into bat, Frankton amassed 276-7 off 45 overs, Ian Whitticase hitting 97 and Jack Hutchinson 59, that pair putting on 113 for the second wicket.
For the visitors, Jonathan Phillips picked up 3-72.
Nick Flack struck a superb 96 in Chirk’s reply, but the rest did not contribute enough and the away side ended up 196 all out, Dale Randall (21) next highest.
Scott Hale did best with 3-38 for the seven-strong home attack.
Next up for Chirk is a home test against Alberbury this Saturday when only a win will do for Luke Gardner’s side.
Chirk seconds were skittled out for just 57, but it would have been a lot worse only for Dan Conde’s battling 37.
In reply, Column eased to 58-3 in 13 overs for a 20 points to 1 victory.
