Bethesda can clinch promotion to Division One on Bank Holiday Monday with a win at Ruthin.
Although Pesda lost Saturday’s Clash of the Titans against second-place Menai Bridge seconds, the Ogwen Valley side are still 18 points clear at the top with three to play and another win will ensure they go up.
Menai seconds kept their promotion hopes on the boil and retained distant title dreams by defeating table-toppers Bethesda at Parc Villa.
Put into bat, Bridge set 139-9, Sam Bixby posting 41 and James Jones 26 not out, Kevin Evans taking 3-19, Carwyn L Williams 2-21 and Ashley Rowlands 2-23.
In reply, Bethesda batted poorly, number 10 Richard Lee Williams their top-scorer with 20 in an innings which closed on 121 all out, extras 22.
Dion Owen did early damage in taking 3-15, skipper Ian Granger grabbing 3-31 in an 11-4 victory for the islanders, who made it a lucky 13 wins in a row.
Maneesha Ayomal Nissanka’s 63 contributed most to a modest Bersham total of 129, which never looked strong enough to exact a victory.
An eight-strong Hawarden Park seconds attack combined to bowl out the hosts relatively cheaply, Luke Tyndall 2-3, Owen Ford 2-9 and Imran Khattak 2-17.
Anthony Salisbury made 50 and skipper Haseeb Hanif Bikya 28 not out as the Park made it to 132-4 in 32.1 overs for a 13-2 triumph.
Amer Jamil snared a sublime 5-15 as Carmel set themselves up for victory by dismissing Ruthin for only 66.
The visitors were put into bat and were never at the races, Ieuan Jones adding 2-15 to the impressive bowling figures.
Carmel eased to 70-2 to secure a 14-1 points verdict, Ieuan Jones 31 no and captain Ben Sim 28 no.
A run of six straight defeats came to a welcome end for Mochdre seconds as they edged a two-wicket decision at Coed Helen.
Caernarfon were put in and Monis Altaf’s highest score for the club of 77 ensured the hosts set a respectable 150-9 off 40 overs.
Sion Gravell took 2-8 and Andrew Butlin 2-16 for the visitors.
Mochdre got home on 153-8 in 37 overs, Owen Opie 58 and skipper Daniel Phillips 37, Simon Davis 4-32 and Ian Morgan 3-29 for the hosts in a good game of competitive cricket.
Skipper George Morris was the star of the show with an unbeaten 94 as Gresford seconds took just 22 overs to reach a victory target of 130.
Mold seconds won the toss and opted for first knock, the highly experienced Cliff Wiseman standing out with 67 in a total of 129 all out, Harry Morris 4-27 and Sam Burke 3-14 for the visitors.
Gresford then romped home thanks to Morris’ whirlwind innings, the visitors ending on 133-5 with Oliver Jones taking 4-35 for the Flintshire side.
A close one at Elwy Park Grove where the bowlers performed best.
Northop seconds were limited to 136-9 off 40, Robert Alderson and Finn Jenkins both 28, with number 10 Steve Gregson contributing a crucial 25 not out.
Elliot Goddard took a highly economical 3-5 off nine and Roger Cloate 3-19 for Saints, who were then bowled out for 125.
Charlie Williams (46) and Matt Owens (34) came up with the highest scores of the match, but as a team the hosts fell 11 short.
Jenkins took 4-25, Alderson 3-2 and Joe Griffiths 2-21.
