REPORT – NORTH WALES COAST EAST LEAGUE DIVISION ONE

NFA 1 Abergele 2

Tonight’s battle of unbeaten sides in North Wales Coast East League Division One ended up as tight and exciting as expected.

In the end, it was reigning champions and current leaders Abergele who edged it and celebrated their fourth league win on the bounce.

However, revamped NFA also showed they are a force to be reckoned with this season.

As expected Abergele had their work cut out at the Chop Shop Arena against a very good NFA team that many have tipped for the title.

Gele settled into the game well and had a few half chances early on but to no avail.

The deadlock was eventually broken in the 26th minute from the penalty spot. Ant Zoezee was fouled and up stepped Greg Hilditch to slot away from 12 yards.

The second half got underway with NFA making a half time substitution which changed momentum in the game.

In the 50th minute a challenge in the area resulted in a penalty which was converted by the home side’s Matty Marsh Evans.

Both teams had chances in the remainder of the second half and the game looked to be finishing level, until Ben Pamment whipped in a corner that flew into the net with eight minutes of normal time remaining.

The Gele boys managed the game well from then on and ran down the clock to take home all 3 points.
