Star North shines brightest with maiden ton, no let up from top two Bethesda and Menai Bridge

St Asaph 2nd XI (13) 146-5 Carmel (2) 145-8

David North recorded his maiden career ton at the age of 46 as St Asaph seconds celebrated a five-wicket success over Carmel at Elwy Park Grove.

All-rounder North, opening the innings, hit 101 not out off 83 balls including 10 fours and seven sixes in guiding his team to victory.

Carmel elected to bat and posted a modest 145-8 off 40 overs, Lee Rowles best with 31 not out, Ieuan Jones and Matthew Isgar 28 apiece.

For Saints, Elliot Goddard collected 4-23 and fellow new-ball bowler North a fabulous 2-11 from nine overs.

In reply, Asaph slumped to 51-4 but holding it all together was that man North who was there at the close at the hosts ended on 146-5 off 30.1, Ieuan Jones taking 2-31 and Oliver Saynor 2-37 for the visitors.

Bersham (15) 119-1 Mochdre 2nd XI (0) 117-10

Aneesh Patali (65 not out) and Suresh Lakmal Koswaththage (38 no) formed a match-clinching second wicket partnership for comfortable winners Bersham.

Visitors Mochdre seconds opted to bat and were skittled out for 117, Daniel Phillips a defiant 41, while for the Colliers, Koswaththage grabbed 3-33 and Rathnayaka Mudiyanselage Shanka 2-25.

Bersham romped to 119-1 in just 10.5 overs for a 15-0 verdict.

Clwb Criced Caernarfon (11) 60-10 Hawarden Park 2nd XI (4) 37-10

Llyr Erddyn Davies scooped a career best 7-11 as bottom side Caernarfon rejoiced over just a third win of the season, bowling out their visitors for 37 having scored a mere 60 themselves.

Paul Gower top-scored with 19 in a home innings which lasted 35 overs, Michael Almond 4-12 and Nicholas Woods 2-9 for Hawarden seconds.

The Park were bowled out in just 16.2 overs, Davies’ seven-wicket haul well backed up by Ian Morgan with 3-22.

Almond made the highest match score of 25 for the visitors.

Gresford 2nd XI (3) 105-10 Ruthin (12) 109-7

Murray Whitehead’s decisive knock of 47 not out did most to ensure Ruthin got over the finish line at Clappers Lane.

Hosts Gresford were dismissed for 105, Jack Bunkell 30, Matthew Duckworth 4-14, Joshua Duckworth 2-21 and Jac Evans 2-22 for the away side.

Ruthin made it to 109-7 in 31.1, Llyr Williams (17 no) and Evans (16) offering the best support for match-winner Whitehead.

Danny Griffin pocketed 4-29 for the hosts.

Mold 2nd XI (0) 113-10 Bethesda (15) 237-8

While almost everyone else struggled for runs, leaders Bethesda had no problems as they amassed a winning 237 at Chester Road.

The Ogwen side made it 16 straight wins and another 15-0 tally to stretch their advantage at the summit to 38 points with six to play.

Skipper Jonathan Williams struck 74, Carwyn L Williams 41, Richard Green 38 and Nicholas Parry 30 as Pesda, who decided to bat, piled up 237-8 off their 40 overs, Aled Proffit 4-41 and Keith Embleton 2-30 for Mold seconds.

The hosts could only manage 113 all out in response, Daniel Williams 44, while for the visitors Carwyn L Williams snared 4-16, Andrew Day 3-19 and Ashley Rowlands 3-36.

Northop 2nd XI (3) 153-10 Menai Bridge 2nd XI (12) 182-7

Skipper Sam Bixby scored 80 and Edward Gadsby 57 as Menai seconds maintained their ruthless promotion push with a fine win at Northop.

Bixby and Gadsby dominated an away effort of 182-7 off 40, Scott Oates 4-25 for the hosts.

Northop seconds were all removed for 153, Jordan Evans 64 and Finn Jenkins 30 no, Gethin Long 2-15 and Liam Bibby 2-25 the best returns for the Anglesey men.
