NATHANIEL MG CUP FIRST ROUND

Chirk AAA 1 (Orbell 83)
Conwy Borough 0

New signing Jack Orbell provided the winning goal seven minutes from time to put Chirk into Monday’s second round draw.

In front of a crowd of 170 at Holyhead Road, the Colliers held their own in the first half with both teams weighing each other up.

The second half saw Chirk take command but never really trouble Conwy keeper Huw Shaw with several chances going begging.

That was until the 83rd minute when Jordan MacCarter set up Orbell for the winner.

Promoted to the tier 2 Cymru North this season, it was a great start for Chirk in the higher spheres of Welsh football and they would have made a good impression on the sizable crowd.

CHIRK AAA: Joshua Jones, Jack Edwards, Adam Williams, Caleb Davies, Ryan Williams, Ashton Williams, Jack Orbell (Edward Baker 86), Ryan Davies, Dale Davies (Sam Molyneux 62), Jordan MacCarter (Jake Simms 86), Lewis Clamp.

CONWY BOROUGH: Huw Shaw, Charlie Jones (Alex Roberts 70), Callum Tipper (Jack Parry-Jones 63), Iolo Hughes, Nathan Williams, Sean McCaffery, James Phillips, Leigh Craven, Cory Williams, Macsen Rhys-Williams, Moses Barnett.

Next up is Chirk’s first ever game in Cymru North when they visit Buckley Town on Friday night, 7.30 pm kick-off.
