This highly-respected, hard-working striker from Anglesey returns to Conwy Borough after playing an important part in Porthmadog’s promotion-winning side of last season.
John, 27, was an outstanding youth international who captained the Welsh Colleges side.
His senior football career began with a brief stay at Llandegfan in 2010 before he moved to Bro Goronwy, where over three seasons he shone brightly, knocking in 19 goals in 49 starts.
In 2013-14, he became part of the Bangor City set-up, finishing top scorer for the Under-19’s in the Welsh Premier Development League and progressing to Nev Powell’s first team, where he made six substitute appearances.
The following season brought a short spell with Glantraeth before he returned to Bro Goronwy, netting five times in as many games.
In 2015, John moved to Cardiff to study. He was snapped up by the Cardiff Met University team, helping them win the Welsh League Division One title and secure promotion to the Welsh Premier.
John remained part of Met’s plans for top flight football and he featured in 19 WPL games for the students in 2016-17.
After graduation, the 2017-18 season saw John back in North Wales representing Holyhead Hotspur in the Cymru Alliance.
He was at the club for two seasons, with perhaps his biggest highlight scoring an 11-minute hat-trick in a remarkable 7-5 Huws Gray Cup victory over Bangor City.
After experiencing success with the Ynys Môn gold medal winning squad at the 2019 Inter-Island Games, John was Sion Eifion Jones’ first signing for Porthmadog FC.
By January 2020, John had switched to fellow Cymru North club Conwy Borough.
His progress at Y Morfa was hampered by a number of postponements due to unprecedented bad weather and the early curtailment of the season because of COVID-19.
With 2020-21 cancelled, John was back with Porthmadog last season, enjoying great success before deciding on a return to Conwy for 2022-23.

After scoring a hat-trick in a friendly against Glan Conwy last week, Mitch Jones further delighted Llangoed supporters by announcing he was signing for the club in 2022-23.
A Llangoed statement said: “Mitch has been a crucial player for Menai Bridge with him scoring 18 times in two seasons from right-back.

Dewi Thomas, 27, has signed for Llangefni Town of tier 3 Ardal North West after playing a key part in Porthmadog’s promotion to the Cymru North last season.
The powerful box-to-box midfielder has always performed at a high level.
In his teens, Dewi represented Wales schools and was also part of the North Wales squad which competed at the 2014 UEFA Regions Cup.
Thomas played in all three group matches, including the 3-1 victory over Northern Estonia and the 1-0 loss to Dostyk, which was reversed to a 3-0 victory for North Wales because of a rule transgression by the Kazakhstan team.
Dewi’s other former clubs include Amlwch Town, Llannerchymedd and Holyhead Hotspur, where he was an outstanding performer in the Cymru Alliance.
