Liverpool Competition – Colwyn Bay cling on for defiant draw

Sampath Perera’s three wickets were not enough to swing the game Prestatyn’s way in their encounter with Alder in the 1st XI Second Division

1st XI First Division

Colwyn Bay (6) 192-9 Lytham (9) 256-4 dec

Colwyn Bay clung on for a defiant draw at home to leaders Lytham.

The visitors were put in and amassed 256-4 declared off 49.3 overs, Akash Vashisht hitting 113 and skipper Matthew Taaffe 71 not out.

Jack Parry, Paul Jenkins, Arthur Jones and Sam Bright took a wicket apiece for the hosts.

Bay batted out 56 overs to end 192-9, Zack Gidlow 46, Will Sissons 35 and skipper George Johansen 33.

Vashisht scooped 4-60 and Toby Lester 3-50 for Lytham.

1st XI Second Division

Prestatyn (3) 97-10 Alder (25) 100-6

After being bowled out for just 97, Prestatyn took six Alder wickets but were unable to prevent their visitors crossing the winning line.

Leo Teal top-scored with 21 in the home side’s low total, put together after they decided to bat. Mark Chappell took 4-33 and Greg Coogan 4-45 for the away side.

Alder made it to 100-6, Sampath Perera claiming 3-28 for the Welsh team.
