Goal kings Lamb and Ellis are staying! CPD Y Rhyl 1879 announce 2022-23 retained list

Carl Lamb (No 10) scored 38 goals for CPD Y Rhyl 1879 in 2021-22. He will be staying on at Belle Vue for the coming season.

Prolific marksmen Carl Lamb and Kieran Ellis have committed themselves to invincible champions CPD Y Rhyl 1879 for the 2022-23 season.

Former Chesterfield and The New Saints front man Lamb struck 38 goals in all competitions for Gareth Thomas’ side last term, while Ellis arrived at Belle Vue in December 2021 and went on to net 25 times in league and cup.

In the tier 4 North Wales Coast East Premier Division, which 1879 won without losing a single game out of 26, Lamb scored 27 times for the title-winners and Ellis 20.

Rhyl 1879 will compete in the tier 3 Ardal Northern next season having clinched promotion as runaway champions in their first season as a club.

The retention of Lamb and Ellis is good news for 1879 fans, who were informed of the club’s retained list for the 2022-23 season today.

Danny Edwards
Joined to help during the back end of the season. The club knew it was highly unlikely he would stay, with him attracting a lot of interest from teams in tier 2.

Eamon Buhalfaia
Due to increased work commitments and the huge success of his coaching business, Eamon has asked not to be retained for the time being, which is subject to change.

Dan Lloyd
Will also be leaving the club as he is still awaiting an operation with no end date in sight, so it was felt best he is given the time to recuperate without the pressures of being part of the squad.
