Trearddur Bay women’s football side recently held their annual presentations.

After taking a while to find their feet, the 2021-22 season ended on a high for the Anglesey team.

Chris Davies’ new arrivals won three and drew three of their 18 games, finishing on a very commendable 12 points.

They built a particularly good record at Lon Isallt, where they beat Llanystumdwy, Welshpool Town and Llangefni Town.

Bay also recorded home draws against Northop Hall and Holywell. And in their final match, they landed their very first away point in a 3-3 thriller at Holywell.

Next season will see the ladies incorporated with the returning men’s team and junior sides under a united Trearddur Bay FC.

At the ladies awards evening, a big thank you was expressed to secretary Ali Thomas and Samantha Davies / Lorna Davies (manager Chris’ wife and mam) for running the cafe to raise much needed funds.

Here are the 2021-22 award winners:

Best young player – Saffron Williams

Young talent Saffron showed a lot of quality, scoring twice in a 2-0 win over Welshpool Town in April.

Most improved – Stacey Evans

Also part of the coaching/management set-up alongside Chris Davies and Mark Parry, Stacey was an inspirational figure on the field over the season.

Clubwoman of the Season – Chloe Taylor

Chloe’s main highlight was scoring two late goals in a 4-2 revenge win over Llangefni and she also netted in a narrow loss to Amlwch. Hard-working all season up front and totally committed to the club.

Top goal scorer – Gail Paterson-Manning

Having been a past Welsh Cup winner with the great Bangor City side of the late 1990’s/early 2000’s, Gail’s vast experience was only ever going to help Trearddur.
She finished top-scorer, one of her best days coming when she netted twice in a 5-2 success over Llanystumdwy.

Committee’s Player – Freya Davies

A deserved award which was voted for by the non-playing members of the committee.

Freya is a really talented player, full of skills and pace who always gives 100% to the cause.

Managers’ Player – Ashleigh Jones

Brilliant, industrious midfielder who was involved in the set-up of the Trearddur Bay team after winning trophies with Amlwch Town, Ashleigh had a great season and was often praised by the opposition.

Players’ Player – Lia Huws

What a versatile performer this young player proved to be.
She did a fine job in defence, but could also adapt to playing in goal and produced some top performances for the team. One to watch for years to come.
