Liam Walker inspired Chirk to their first league win of the season with a magnificent ton at Holyhead Road.
After starting 2022 with back-to-back defeats, the North Walians needed a tonic and it came on Saturday.
Visitors Chelmarsh were put into bat and limited to 172-6 off 45 overs, opener and skipper Connor Glendinning with a brilliant 113 not out carrying the innings.
For the hosts, Andrew Swarbrick claimed 3-43 off 14 overs.
In reply, Chirk lost their first batsman at 18 runs, but then Walker and James Carter (34) put on a match-turning 150 for the second wicket.
Walker, who cracked a career best 133 for the seconds last year, on this day recorded his maiden first team ton, his 118 coming off 106 balls and including 16 fours and three sixes.
By the time he was out, Chirk needed just two to win and they finished triumphant on 175-3 from 33.2 overs. Points: 20-3.
An eight-wicket loss for Chirk seconds, who were put into bat and restricted to 150-8 off 40 overs, Connor Dyke making 40 and Connor Bailey 37.
Ludlow got home on 152-2 in just 25.4 overs, Matthew Hawes 65 not out.
